Not a very catchy title I agree, but right now, it seems the only appropriate thing I can think of in the current state I am in. For 2 nights straight on, I have had difficulty sleeping, call it a recurring box of insomnia filled chocolates if you will(more on this later).
So yet again, its 4:35am in the morning, yet to get a wink of sleep, and my state of sleeplessness actually gave me the idea to drop another episode of my "understanding man" series.
Today though, I thought to talk about life in itself, since life is a function by which man exists, so "why not?"
Life is never a straight line
So a funny event has been occurring for a while now. When I was coming to delta state, I could have sworn that I had everything planned out. How my trip was going to go, the event that would occur in the various days, even down to the meal I was going to cook.
But as I often too forget, life has a way of throwing "sand in one's garri" ( going unexpectedly).
First thing first was the fact that despite no one being at home, the electric company had continuously brought bills to the house, and eventually "cut" the light on the day of my arrival.
Apart from that, a window in a room was open, and delta being a place where the rains fall year round, the floor was filled with stagnant water, some of which had sipped into the wall. Not only that, the water in the tank aparently wasn't drained before anyone left the house, so you can imagine how filty and smelly it was.
So I had to get to work, cleaning, sweeping, arranging the house. After which I had to go pay the electric bill as well as a reconnection bill to be reconnected back to the grid.
This being delta state, vigilante members came around demanding "fees" for protecting the house, of cause non payment means Ill likely experience a mysterious break-in, so its more of a threat, than actual protection.
All in all, its been an eventful week, things are higher than expected back home again, and its annoying. Cooking has been an hassle,and the gas needs refilling.
What am I driving at?
The deal is, I tend to plan for every eventuality, yet things go sideways once plans are put in motion. This is unfortunately how life operates on a regular. Things are usually out of our control no matter the amount of "plan B" we make.
Whenever things go awry I can't help but think;
"Should we live life on the go? As the cliché hippie stereotypes always hints, " go with the flow"?
Or should I continue to make plans A through D for any event/situation that may arise?
For some people, having their plans slightly disrupted is no issue, but for me, it means more mental work, more last minute changes and all that leads to more pressure on my mind, especially when the plans you've been making for weeks, or months suddenly start falling apart in front of you.
fairness? No such thing
Going back to my sleeping pattern, sometimes I look at several aspects of life, and I just conclude that there aint no thing called fairness in this life. For example, I got a junior brother and 2 senior brothers who fall straight to sleep the moment they hit the bed, this occurs everytime, and has been occurring for as long as I can remember. In the whole family, only I, mom and the eldest has trouble sleeping.
While it does have its advantage, like me being able to keep awake for an overnight record session, the annoying aspect is that I get to be less productive and often drowsy in the morning.
I most times come across as cranky and unresponsive in the morning, which has come to be the default assumed personality people get of me these days, i also happen to now be blessed with a permanent dark ring of skin around my eyes.
These are of cause, minor problems.
Today, things like skin colour, sharing last name with someone else, place of birth, can all instantly affect one's life. Being "african" comes with a whole lot of perks, one recurring one being that we're often lumped together and designated as "one tribe".
Born Asian? Well, get ready for some deep stereotyping as questions about your IQ, sexual tendencies, and other irrelevant things come into play.
What about as a woman? A nerd? A middle child?
In every aspect of life, fairness is a mirage, even in football, the second you touch an opposition player, they will take that opportunity to roll, dive and whatever to get a free kick, and possibly get you to take a card.
The worst example of this has to be in politics where if you arent top of your game, you'll be eaten alive. You dont believe me? try running a campaign and play " fair". No slandering of opponents, no digging up facts from years ago, not trying to out do your competition by dishing out greek gifts to them.
man and life
So here we are, trying to understand man's behaviour and interactions. I always have a voice in my head that tells me that "man cannot be understood".
We are different, we are universal, each with his/her own personality, we each have the way we react to certain situations.
Of cause all these written above are of my own opinion, and of cause, are subject to different interpretation amlnd scrutiny.

Hi @destinysaid
Like my favourite quote in the last few days
Ron white
I believe life gets a lil bit more easier if we try to be in harmony with it, its actually fine since you are able to achieve something positive with your sleepless night.
And for the change in plans well
no matter how we try to plan our lives, life always has its own plan for us. So it still brings us back to been in harmony with life.
Congrats to @ewuoso
Thanks.

@destinysaid
Sorry about your insomnia and all the stress you had to go through. I believe all will be well soon. I'll suggest you visit your doctor. Two days without sleep is not good o.
@learnandteach01
No matter how well planned, events can go awry and we can expect anything in life........it springs surprises on us from time to time. In a situation like that, you quickly switch to an alternate plan. Kpele! Small small o.
@ewuoso I am proud of you. Congratulations dear.
