Yes or No?!? Anyway they are good in collecting your data to sell this to other parties. And yes, we all agree on this as we have our OK.

But whenever you are on flightmode, my stupid mind thought nobody is watching or following my activities.
Phone Flightmode! But Google data collection gets everything?
I‘m not familiar with this TV channel at all and I don‘t know if this is trustworthy, but at least it made me think.
A long story short
With all the stuff you allow Google (and I guess as well other companies) they even collect all kind of information from you phone while you are flight mode and transmit all this whenever you go online again.
Means places you visit, activities you did and so much more - to be able to analyze you to place ads?!?
Do you know DuckDuckGo?
On some of my computers I don‘t use a connected google account and I even use another search Engine called with this funny name DuckDuckGo
There is a nice post at VPN Guru where they tell you 5 reasons to use another search engine instead google.

I think the lesson we learned recently, is that any trust we give to many of the internet companies, needs to be taken with a pinch of salt... The Cambridge Analytica scandel springs to mind..

Even Apple, Nokia and many other collect you data.
During the last days I found a project that does a bit for your privacy at home.
It is called "pi-hole" link to pi-hole!.
This is an overview of the last 24 hours of my local internet traffic :
As you might see nearly 20% of it was blocked.
All you need is a raspberry pi and half an hour to setup.

I saw lately some cool stuff from Ubiquity and they offer a small device which might do similar stuff as it Analyse your ip trafic like a bigger Session border controller.
Anyway, we all need to think more about our data and the value of it
I don't think Google believes its evil. They think they are doing the world a favor, but bringing us all under one synthetic umbrella whilst creating no light and no shadows.
