Yesterday was New Year and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria released a New Year speech promising to end the importation of rice and He also apologised for the inconvenience caused by the scarcity of petrol during the Christmas period .

He promised that the people responsible for the fuel scarcity would be held responsible and His regime would ensure that it does not happen again. That is not the reason for writing this post, the President promised that the importation of rice would stop this year!!

This is not the first time Mohammadu Buhari has made a promise within a time frame that He and his regime can not meet. During the 2015 Presidential Electoral Campaign He promised Nigerians that within his regime they would create 1000 housing units. Now he promises to end rice importation in this year when they haven't done anything concerning it for the past 2 years. On a daily basis bags of rice crosses the border under the nose of the Federal Government into Nigeria and they do nothing.

Concerning railway, He said the railway from Lagos-Kano which is currently under construction would reach Ibadan in 2019, you can expect that when the 2019 Elections come this railway project would be paused and then PMB would campaign using the railway project.

It seems that politicians in Nigeria find it easy to make promises but the fulfilment of those promises is difficult for them but what we can do is hope and pray that our Representatives fulfil what they promise
