Under the meaning of life people understand different things. Everyone can have a sense of life, as most people assume that the meaning of a person's life is his goals, his dreams and aspirations.
Some philosophical currents are inclined to consider not the dreams of people to whom they dedicate most of their lives, but the nature of man, his destiny and place in the universe, his place in the universal system.
Is man a free individual or a programmed biological robot?
There is a statement that the goal of each of us is pleasure.
Everything that a person does is done only for the sake of pleasure or to escape from discomfort. By the way, during the withdrawal from discomfort, you can go to more decisive actions (repeatedly tested by own example), rather than to achieve pleasure. Motivation of a person can be represented in the form of a scale from negative infinity to positive infinity, where zero is a state in which he does not feel discomfort, but there is also no sense of pleasure. We all instinctively seek to escape from the negative infinity of trouble to the positive infinity of pleasure.
Our desires appear with birth. Nature has animal desires, to which one can relate the desires of food, sex and the creation of a family. In the process of development, additional desires are formed in each child. They can be called public desires. These desires are desires of wealth, power, fame, knowledge.
All these desires in the process of a person's life, then together, then alternately manifest themselves, giving rise to thoughts in him and motivating him to act, to receive pleasure or to stimulate him to avoid discomfort.
But how far can you go in the desire to receive pleasure? Agree that we get pleasure only when we fill our desires, but as soon as they fill up, the enjoyment comes to naught. If you continue to fill your desires, you can even feel the discomfort. Remember, too good is also bad.
For example, when you want to eat, only one thought about eating can drive us crazy. But as soon as we start eating, from each piece of food we get less and less pleasure. And when we are full, further eating can cause discomfort instead of enjoyment. Other desires work on the same principle. When you are poor, you are able to rejoice at every penny, but when your finances go uphill, you can easily overlook an additional thousand dollars of profit.
The fact that a person does almost everything because of selfish motives is more than obvious. And the fact that the filling of their egoism does not make a person happy, also does not cause doubts.
So what is the meaning of human life? Maybe in altruism?
Take for example our body, we will not go far. All our bodies work not to receive, as "all normal people", but to disinterested return. The goal of each organ is not its own well-being, but the well-being of the whole organism. Accordingly, universal well-being is possible only in the case when all organs work for bestowal, but for themselves take only the most necessary, as much as is necessary for life. All systems of nature interact on the basis of altruism, full and unselfish giving. We can see this everywhere, from star systems to the atom. Everything in the universe is interconnected by altruism.
In addition to humanity, probably. Otherwise, how to explain the endless wars, the destruction of nature, the violation of climatic conditions, inefficient use of limited resources of the planet.
What is humanity waiting for in the future? Destruction of the human race?
Or will a person reveal the meaning of life for himself?
