Well, SELF-CONTROL could be said to be the ability to regulate one's emotions, thoughts, and behaviour in the face of temptations and impulses or the quality that allows someone to stop doing things that he/she wants to do but that might not be in his/her best interest.

SELF-CONTROL is not actually easy like people see it especially when you're being hurt deeply. It takes the grace of God to actually apply that SELF-CONTROL. In some cases you only realize you'd apply SELF-CONTROL after you might have screwed things up.

Let me share a story that I actually tag as the highest form of self control.

A man travelled away from home for a business purpose, leaving his precious wife behind. On the day of arrival he couldn't reach his wife to inform her about his coming because he's phone ran out of battery. He came back happily but quite exhausted because of his long trip. On getting to his house, the door wasn't closed properly, so he pushed it and stepped in.

Nobody was in the sitting room and the noise of the door wasn't loud enough to call attention, he wondered. He went straight to the living room on getting to the door. it wasn't also closed properly, so he pushed it and behold, his wife committing adultery with another man.

He was flabbergasted. (Oh! Am sorry), He apologized and shot the door. He went back to the sitting room and dropped his stuffs. The wife was shocked and likewise her companion, so she quickly dressed up, chased her companion and broke out in tears. As he was leaving he passed through the sitting room which of course is the only way out. He waved the husband and left.

The husband realizing they are done, went back to the living room and dropped his stuffs. He dressed the floor, laid down and dozed of while the wife was in tears and watching.

In the morning the man woke up and saw his wife in a pull of blood. The woman has committed suicide out of emotional trauma and fear of what will be the outcome.

The husband seeing this, wept bitterly and wished he had talked to his wife. He was accused as a suspect and was arrested by the police.

This is what I call the highest form of SELF-CONTROL. There could have been another way to take care of the situation, but we all think and reason differently. Including how we handle matters.

It was his own choice.
