The only ones he is protecting are in their nineties... so I don't see the point unless he did use it for a bargaining chip or to keep the FBI going until the arrests are done (including Congress).
I am not convinced of that yet, but time will tell.
I wish it were different, but sadly I agree. This puppet almost always nearly delivers us a solution before some outside force stops him.
The perfect unlikely hero used exactly as a puppet. I admire your hopefulness though. :)
