Crystal Clear Breezy Night

in #life7 years ago

Falling asleep watching the US soccer men defeat Panama was not surprising. It was not a beautiful game as it is played elsewhere. The benefit was I woke to find a beautiful harvest moon. The night sky was incredibly clear with a strong breeze blowing from the South. IMG_0174.JPG

The night sky took me back to memories of my youth. My grandmother and I sat on her front porch where she would forecast thr weather by looking at the moon. Those were the days before computer weather models were shown on the evening news. Television was more about smoking guns in the old west and loving someone named Lucy. It was a different time.

Veterans still carried hatred for the Germans and the Japanese. The memories of WWII were still fresh. Few had ever heard of Vietnam, Korea, or countries in Middle East. Israel had been created by the United Nations, but the struggles between the arabs and the jews were nothing new. My grandmother had told me that history many times. But like the moon, those problems were far away. They could not reach so far to desturb us.

Tonight, while watching the moon in the night sky, I realized that some things change and some things remain.

I prefer the world of my childhood, but that world is gone.

Here is today's beauty.

A simpler time huh? What was the final score of the soccer game? Interesting to see someone from an older generation following soccer. Im sure many do, but know it wasnt as popular than as it is now.

Sad to hear it wasnt a very good game, but glad we won.

great job..
