RE: The Halls Of Valhalla

I'm with you on this one @meesterboom tofu...nothanku And quite honestly whisky and meat protein would do you much better than the carbs of porridge and tofu but what can we do eh?

The ancestors were never sick and Victorian aunts gave bone broth tea to invalids, so there you go.

I do love porridge, tho I gave it up years ago (see the previous carb comment) and stateside it's called oatmeal UNLESS we pay more for tins of the stuff steel cut whole bits with Irish or Scottish names all over it and import stamps and quite honestly, that's the stuff I used to love. You'd have to soak it a long time and it'd cook, like some magic elixer, in the post for an hour and then I'd drench it in Maple Syrup (or treacle in a way being so close to Canada, we can ingest enough maple syrup) But, now it's bacon and eggs for me, much better and good for you.

I hope you heal and can find your way back from Valhalla , maybe stop at a butchers on your way back, I hear Griphon meat to be quiet tender, or Dragon tail.

Sort:

I do like a drizzle of maple syrup on my oats!! I thought it might be called oatmeal. There were too many coincidences.

I am a firm believer in the old ways. Meat and wine or strong spirits. That's how they did it. Right enough the life expectancy was about 35 years back then.. Lol!

I do prefer a heartier breakfast, there is nothing in. We have been taken in isolation. I am taking matters into my own hands and getting a shop ordered!!

Lol about life expetency, actually Victorians and earlier lived much longer than we are lead to believe today haha, in fact my victorian aunts and such often reached 100 :) Maybe we're made of tougher stuff in cold New England LOL.

It could be that. Once away from the cold mists of Englandshire expectancy probably went up!
