Importance of a morning routine in setting goals

in #life7 years ago

My focus in the last few weeks has been to try and motivate myself, stop all the procrastination and to get shit done!

I was never a morning person, ever! I used to wake up at 11 am and go to lectures if I felt like I needed to and I would never get anything done! I would say even allocating time to Steemit 2 months ago would've been too much for me to ask myself to do.

Maybe its the new year buzz that has everyone trying to better themselves, however I am committed, and through Steemit I think more people can interact and engage with each other for motivation!

So here are so tips of the importance of setting goals and a few to start us all off together!

The Importance of a Morning Routine

Before we go head first into morning habits, we need to clarify Why they'll help you be more productive. For starters, people are the most productive when they wake up, and setting up a routine ensures that they maintain that level of productivity for longer periods of time instead of getting your productivity boost half way through the day.

Following a routine in the morning means you'll be have more time to yourself to reflect on things important to you (less hustle and bustle) and it gives you the opportunity to be organized for the rest of the day. Whats more important is the mindset that you create being more organized for the day, allowing yourself to tackle tasks that seemed daunting before

Noting how early many high powered leaders start their work days starting your day early and refreshed is a habit nearly all leaders follow.

5 (5 minute) tasks for your morning:

  • When you get up always make your bed( I realise I sound like a parent!)
If you cannot make your bed for the day what do you think you'll accomplish? This is helps for the end of the day when all you want to do is slide into a clean and comfortable bed. Its 2 minutes and the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) suggest that people sleep much better when their beds are made and their environment clean.

  • Schedule your day.
Without creating some sort of schedule its easy to get to the end of the day and realise what you've done hasnt been the important things. Make a quick list of the tasks you want to complete for the day even if its as small as grocery shopping. Checking off the tasks will lead to a sense of accomplishment allowing the bigger tasks to seem less painful.

  • Set manageable size tasks for big projects.
Don't try get huge projects that require large amounts of time to take up the whole day where you could also get multiple smaller things done too. Divide the task into portions that fit into your day, point number 2 also comes in handy for starting big projects in advance. This will also give you a starting point for your task where sometimes its too mammoth to even know where to start.

  • Do some research on a side activity
Side activities are great ways to turn part time fun into full time income! Start off by listing the things you like to do for fun, there's nothing better than getting paid to do something you enjoy. See if you have time to fulfill the needs of this activity or if you'd have to let something less important go( like a wife or husband) lol. Look into if you'd have to invest any money to buy equipment or for investment purposes.

  • Make at least 1 connection.
I was going to say "at least 1 business connection" and thought that Steemit connections are even better. This is the perfect platform to expand your "empire" and to get your activities and side hustle out there. Start off your day by trying to get followers by posting relevant information and follow at least 1 person that intrigues you on Steemit. Dont be afraid to engage with anyone for business at the end of the day it can only benefit you. There are many ways to make business connections! LinkedIn is a good place to start and have a profile.
