LSD Information & Why It Isn't As Bad As You Think | Taboo Talk

in #life7 years ago (edited)

So, when most people hear the term 'LSD', 'Acid', 'Lucy', or any other number of names for it, they think it's some horrible drug that will ruin your life and get you addicted. I'm here to tell you that it's really not, but first, I'll give some background information.

HISTORY OF LSD
Albert Hoffman.jpg

Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, more commonly known as Acid or LSD, is a psychedelic/hallucinogenic drug first synthesized in 1938 by a man named Albert Hoffman (Picture above). He was initially attempting to develop a drug to aid childbirth by synthesizing compounds from ergot. He eventually synthesized LSD-25 (the LSD we're talking about), and since it turned out be pretty ineffective in aiding childbirth, he put it away. Half a decade later, in 1943, he re-synthesized LSD to take further tests on it. Somehow, he let a drop of the LSD make contact with him. While synthesizing it, he was abruptly stopped by a foreign sensation. He describes the feeling in his book LSD, My Problem Child. He describes it as a "remarkable restlessness, combined with a slight dizziness," and "A not unpleasant intoxicated-like condition, characterized by an extremely stimulated imagination,". LSD was also a very big part of the counterculture movement back in the 1960s.

LSD ON THE STREET

On the street, LSD can be found on tabs (pieces of cardboard/paper), capsules, and uncommonly in liquid form. It has no smell, color, or taste, and is orally active. The most popular way of taking LSD is placing the tabs on the top of, or under your tongue, these tabs usually hold 80-100 micrograms of LSD (80-100 millionths of a gram). The usual dose for first-time users is 50-100 micrograms , though seasoned users may go well above 1000 micrograms. The effects of LSD can last from 12 to upwards of 24 hours (I have personally experienced over a day of effects from a high-dose LSD trip) Users buying have to look out for impersonators of LSD, though. We will delve deeper into that later.

LSD AND GENERAL HEALTH
Health.jpg

A very common misconception for LSD is that if you take it once, you will be addicted forever. This is not a fact, it's not even close to true. LSD has no physical addiction or withdrawl, in fact, it can even have the opposite effect. Lots of people will tell you LSD has no practical application in medicine or for anything other than ruining your life, and yet this isn't the case. LSD can actually help with addiction to other drugs, and help with PTSD and other mental issues combined with therapy. Yet another misconception is those damn acid flashbacks. I'm sure you have heard stories of a guy who decided to drop acid then 2 years later found himself in the middle of an acid trip that came out of nowhere. These flashbacks don't actually happen, though a very very small percentage of people may start to experience Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder(HPPD). This disorder generally gives small visual and auditory distortions even after the LSD has left the body. Though, HPPD hasn't been directly linked to LSD, and could be linked to other things like other drugs, or pre-existing mental health issues. Many people also believe that LSD will make you go crazy, and this just simply put, isn't true. There is no direct links to LSD creating mental health issues, however, if you do have any mental health issues, it is strongly recommended that you do not experiment with LSD or any other drug, unless your doctor prescribes it (and even then, do your damn research). The LD-50(amount of LSD it takes to overdose) is extremely high, and there have been absolutely no cases of death by overdose from LSD. Tolerance from LSD also builds very quickly, and is cross-tolerant with other psychedelics like MDMA, Magic Mushrooms, etc. So it should go without saying, don't take it too often.

LSD SAFETY
Ehrlich Test Kit.jpg

Many people buy LSD online, or on the streets without actually knowing what they're getting. There are many different impersonators of LSD that are sold under the popular name of LSD because they are cheaper, and easier to get. Real LSD has no taste, smell, or color. As I always say, if it's bitter, it's a spitter. Among the most popular of these impersonators are a group of drugs called the NBOMes. These NBOMes are very dangerous and can kill you, along with an overwhelming amount of other impersonators. In other words, if you're at a rave and some dude comes up to you offering LSD, just say no, or if you don't, TEST IT! The best possible way you can avoid taking these impersonators is testing your substances, and LSD is certainly no exception. There are quite a few trustable test kits out there. You can find a video all about testing LSD below:

PREPARING FOR YOUR LSD TRIP

A very common mistake made by first-time LSD users is simply not taking the preparations needed to make your trip as comfortable as possible. Below I've made a few steps to help aid you in preparing for your first LSD experience.

  1. Make sure you have your schedule cleared for at least 48 Hours
While taking LSD, you want to make absolutely sure that you will not be bothered or interrupted by anyone in the middle of your trip, as this can send you into a violent tailspin and completely change the outcome of your trip. It's also safe to say that you will not want to participate in going to work, or anywhere else. It's pretty obvious you shouldn't be operating any machinery or driving.

  2. Have a good place to trip in
Taking LSD changes the way you think and perceive things, taking it out in the woods can be very cool, but you might want to steer clear of uncomfortable places or places you haven't been to before. For your first time, you should pick a nice place like your home or a trusted friend's house.

  3. Dosage
If it's your first time with LSD, you probably don't want to be completely disoriented and emerged in this odd world. For a beginner, I would recommend a starting dose of 100 micrograms. From there, you can see if you want to go higher, or if you are good with that dose.

  4. Music
Trust me when I say that music is one of the most amazing things you can experience while on LSD. You're probably going to want a playlist with your favorite songs on it, and you will most certainly appreciate them when you're tripping.

  5. Hydration
One of the most important things you need to do while on LSD, or any drug, is stay hydrated and well fed. Many users forget the simple fact that you need water, and without it you're going to feel discomfort. It may seem obvious to you, but when you're tripping you're not fully you. So make sure you have some beverages near, and be sure to drink them!

  6. Mixing with other drugs
A lot of people like mixing LSD with other drugs, and it can be a good idea for some. Occasionally, people feel a terrible anxiety on a LSD comeup or even during the trip, and drugs like marijuana can help ease that anxiety. I don't personally recommend mixing any drugs, but if you're one of those people that marijuana works well with, and you want to, feel free to give it a shot. (Note: I do not encourage this, especially with less safe drugs)

  7. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!
This one is very important. You want to know what you're getting yourself into. If you want to mix, sure, but make sure you research the combination before taking it. You should also read some other trip reports if you want to, but don't let those influence the outcome of your trip. This should go without saying, but you certainly don't want to go into the trip blind. The best thing you can do for yourself is having the knowledge of what you're getting into.

  8. Get a trip sitter
If it's your first time doing LSD, I strongly recommend having a trip sitter. Now this isn't a NEED, but it's certainly going to help your trip go along smoothly. So, ask a close and trusted friend if they are free to help you out for a while, and if they don't know what they're doing, have them watch the video below to help.

  9. Have fun
Last, but certainly not least, relax, and have some fun! This is a really fun experience that not many people have the pleasure or opportunity of taking. The best thing I've found to do on a trip is just relax and listen to some tunes. Maybe meditate if you want to, and just contemplate life. This usually turns into an amazing experience, so enjoy it!

CONCLUSION
Hell yeah.jpg

I personally have had many trips with LSD, and most of them are good. I personally believe this is because I have a positive mindset while going into the trips, and have done my research. Though LSD is mostly taboo, I have found that a lot of people are willing to have a great discussion about drugs, legality, and such. In today's society, there is a lot of unspoken rules, and they are put there to be broken. We shouldn't be afraid to debate topics that could be considered controversial just because we don't want backlash. There are many very important topics that are avoided, and it is our job to educate those who haven't been educated. It is very important to push drug safety, because whether they are legal or not, people are going to take them. Myself included. Feel free to debate me in the comments, I'm always open to conversation.

Very good post! I’m a supporter of mild to moderate use of psychedelics.

I read a study recently that said of people who have used LSD almost all would do it again. That is exactly how I feel. I did a bunch in college and I can honestly say that there is something eye opening about trying it. Your tips about music and a trip sitter are good ones.

Judging by some comments not that many people who are reading such posts do LSD. I wonder why. Done it myself many times and what's important to remember that there is Micro-dozing. if you are new to psychedelic drugs then just start with a small doze(not the full tab if you do not know exactly how much it has) and preferably do it within a save environment with a friend who you trust, then I can personally assure you that chances of having a bad trip are close to the absolute 0.

I also want to point out an important thing. The more knowledge you have the better LSD will work on you. Music and nature are always fine on LSD, however that's not the only thing it is useful for )

If you're doing real micro-doses, you do not feel the effects. I would also recommend that if you don't know what the dose of the tab is, don't buy it. If they aren't gonna tell you the dose, it's probably an impostor or a bunk tab.
