Snoqualmie Falls - Washington!

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Another one from Seattle!

It's kind of weird writing about Seattle when i'm sitting an hour or so from Nashville. We're having a great time here so far, and it's crazy to think we're leaving in a week, but let's not think about that right now. Anyways, on our ride to Seattle and even after we arrived in Seattle I was seeing signs for "Snoqualmie Falls", and even post cards with pictures of it.

When we started the drive home we wanted to take our time, and we found Snoqualmie on the maps. It was about 15 minutes off the interstate, so we decided to give it a try. Driving over there when we got off the interstate was beautiful! We drove along the Snoqualmie River on the way there, and even stopped to get a closer look at a place or two.

When we arrived I was expecting a small hike to the falls, but to my surprise we parked the car, walked across the street, and we were there! It was so surprising that something like this was right off the road. Others we have been to in the past, such as on our first date, we had to hike about 45 minutes to get to. IMG_20180218_114111.jpgThe water was so intense that it felt like it was raining, and we were pretty far away from it. I can only imagine what it feels like right beside it...you'd need a change of clothes! I had to kind of shield @alovelymess, because she had to keep wiping off her camera lens due to the water. Even in these pics it looks like rain.

If you want to stay a night, there is even a lodge right by the falls you can stay at. Some interesting facts: There are a couple of power plants here. The first was built in 1899 and operates at the base of the falls. Being embedded in the rocks 270 feet below the surface, this was the world's first completely underground power plant. The second was built in 1910 and later expanded in 1957, and is a short distance downstream of the falls.

We were super glad we stopped to experience this.
It was absolutely beautiful, and we had a great time!

I live just 45 minutes from the pass, in Ellensburg, and I have yet to take time and get off the highway to explore Snoqualmie. This shows me what I'm missing out on!! Thanks for sharing, glad you liked Washington :)

Very cool! We stopped in Ellensburg on the way back. Falls City is a cool town, theres a museum or two there as well. You should see it if you're close! Thank you! We did. :D

Snoqualmie Falls made for a great day hike back when I lived in Seattle.

Thanks for sharing and allowing me to relive the memory!

That's awesome! Day hike, how did you hike to it? You're welcome!

There is always something magical about waterfalls. We have one not so far from the house... it's a small one but you can swim in it! So nice. Have a great day and enjoy the upcoming wedding ;)

Super cool! We have some in Idaho we need to check out this Summer. Thank you, have a great day (well, night now) as well! :)

You framed water fall.Really amazing photoshoot.

I haven't been in that part of the state very often, but if I get over that way again, I really would like to see these falls! Lovely photos! (And a cute couple, too!)

You should! They are worth it. Thank you!!

Wow great shots of the falls! The photo's look amazing, I guess it was a good choice to make a pit stop. It looked like you guys had another good date, without the hiking this time! Good shot's love the forest around it

Thank you! We made a great choice, haha. The no hiking was kind of nice too. The whole area was gorgeous!
