Christian festivals are cool - but it's the magic I really love

I love Easter and Christmas. Anything that reminds the kind of Christians that hate everyone and everything and use their 'faith' to subjugate others and bend society to their will that Jesus was actually about being nice to people.

But even more I love the magic of these holidays. The pagan roots of the festivals.

Long before Christianity, Easter was a pagan festival celebrating Spring in the northern hemisphere. After the bleak of winter snows, a time to celebrate growing green things at a time when daylight hours equalled the dark - the Spring equinox.

And we know too that Christmas was a festival long before Jesus was born and grew up to be a compassionate man who thought people should treat everyone how they themselves liked to be treated.

But magic bunnies and chocolate eggs and presents in the depth of winter and flying reindeer all had their origins in pagan festivals built around the cycles of nature - the real magic of the world.

Because what can be more amazing than a midwinter's night, and the knowledge that Spring is on its way, and after that, all the promise of Summer? Or green shoots bursting through frozen ground, giving life to a new generation of creatures?

Have a great Easter and may magic bunnies abound.

Beautiful

Thanks for the info on Easter and Christmas origin and background. I knew that Christmas has its pagan roots but not about Easter. Now I learnt that too! That's why in our Church we do not celebrate Christmas.

Thank you very much for your good wishes, i wish you more of the things you wished us, and i love bunnies..wish they are real..Nice post my dear

'Course they are!

Something that most Christians ignore. Not just doing what your told and thinking for yourself isn’t exactly encouraged by religion.

Happy Easter mate! 😇

Thanks mate - had a great one!

According to my unreliable source -google! (lol), people are not allowed to eat eggs during Holy week for a silly reason of saving the eggs for Easter -that early church fathers initiated it! WHY EGGS? Others think that eggs symbolizes newness, beginning and ressurection of one's life -again my question, why they are BOILED! haha

Happy Easter bro.

Hahahaha
Love the questions - I have no answers though!

Thanks for sharing@drwom very nicely explain about the festivals celebrating by Christines.
