Mr. Meeseeks is an almost all-powerful creature brought to our lives in season 1 episode 5 of the amazing show Rick and Morty. Now, I know you might have your own religious beliefs, so I am definitely not trying to conflict your beliefs with my own thoughts on Mr. Meeseeks. However, there are some fun things to think about here.
For those of you who do not know who Mr. Meeseeks is, this video explains everything:
He Answers Your Prayers
The purpose of Mr. Meeseeks' existence is to fulfill whatever you ask him to do. Basically any request you have at all, he will do anything he can to make it happen. Whenever one prays to God, they hope that God is listening and that their prayers will be answered. Now Mr. Meeseeks might go to the extreme in some cases to make answer your prayers (as shown with Jerry in the episode), however, the clear connection can be made.
He Isn't Always Good to Mankind
Just as God had cursed mankind with 10 plagues, and many other cruel things (if that's what you believe in), Mr. Meeseeks goes to extreme measures to do his duty for mankind. In the episode, we see him cloning himself hundreds of times to ultimately murder Jerry. The reason: Jerry wanted to take two strokes off his golf game. When Mr. Meeseeks couldn't help him no matter what, the only solution was to take all strokes off of his golf game. From this we can take, if you ask too much of God (Mr. Meeseeks), he will turn against you.
He Only Exists If We Make Him Exist
Mr. Meeseeks can only exist if you call him to answer your desire (or prayer). Similarly, God only exists since we believe he exists (if you're willing to be that reform with me here). Also, existence is pain for Mr. Meeseeks. After Mr. Meeseeks completes his job, he stops existing. Once God has completed his duty (whatever it may be) will he still exist? Once mankind has run its course on Earth and no longer exists to imagine God, is there still a God? Questions worth thinking about, thanks to Mr. Meeseeks.
He Controls the Fate of Mankind
This last one is directly related to the Rick and Morty story. If you look closely in the scene where Mr. Meeseeks is talking to Summer's entire school to make her popular, the first person to run up and greet Summer is Tammy. If you've seen the entire series, we all know that Tammy ends up being a spy that turns in Rick for his crimes. However, Tammy would have never been tied up with Rick and Morty (by meeting BirdMan) if she had not been introduced to Summer that day. If it wasn't for Mr. Meeseeks, the season 2 finale could have never happened. Also, when Beth is talking to Mr. Meeseeks is the first time we see Beth have thoughts to divorce Jerry. This becomes a recurring thought she has throughout the show that would not have likely happened without the aid of Mr. Meeseeks. Mr. Meeseeks is guiding the show through his limited existence, just as God does for us.
Now its true that the first thing Rick says about Mr. Meeseeks is "they're not gods." But maybe its because they are The God. Don't take anything I am saying here too literally, I don't religiously believe Mr. Meeseeks is actually God. If you haven't seen the show yet, you have to, it's simply brilliant. Enjoy!
Mr.Meeseeks, post content on Steem for me.
lol Dude I've never thought of it this way but this context is on point.
"In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Look at me!"
