The Memorial

Full frontal view.

If you are reading my blogs, then you know I lived in New York City for quite some time. What I haven't shared with you is my experience with 9/11. I am still not going to go into full detail about the event, because it was very personal, but I will get there at some point in sharing what happened to me on that terrible day.

I lost some friends that day, and this is a very special memorial dedicated to those who went in to help save many of those that were trapped inside the World Trade Center. I was fortunate to be very close to some officers and firemen who worked that day and throughout the next years trying to find loved ones or remains. I dedicate this post to all my lovely friends and some who became family during that very tough time.

Stepping into the center.

This architectural piece was chosen and placed from Staten Island to stand in the direction of the World Trade Center. Within the walls is the name of the person that passed away on 9/11 and a facial etching placed within the wall. Oftentimes, there is a flower or some form of memorabilia placed next to their name. I have seen necklaces, rosaries, coins, badges, etc.

Since I lived close to this location for many years, I would often take walks and pray for those souls who had died a terrible death. Hoping their soul had moved on in peace.

It is with much love and blessings that I make this post, for those that I miss and that I will someday see again. Peace.

I think you got more than me on this one ...

It's a beautiful memorial. I have stopped by there before. I was not there during that tragedy, but I can imagine just how terrible it was especially if you lost loved ones. Love... And hugs.

Dear E,

it was terrible and I thank you for your kindness, love, and hugs.

Love,
Eagle

I had the privilege of visiting Ground Zero on a trip to New York 8 or 9 years ago. I was not prepared for what I would feel when I got there. I had had no interest in going, but my friends and colleagues did, so I went along. Although when it happened I recall the surreal horror of watching things unfold and in one's head one has a sense of how big. Until my visit to Manhattan and then not just Ground Zero, but also the memorial to the men and women of the emergency services, the sheer magnitude of that event didn't hit home.

It helped me to understand the profound impact that 9/11 had on everyone in New York, let alone those who have gone to the heart of darkness as a result of that day.

Thank you for these photographs.

yes seeing it on tv and living it or being there are wntirely different. i only had a small taste of those in war torn areas of the world. 9/11 was horrific but i also think of sudan iraq and many other countries that i pray for, the killing of othees is a nasty business. thank you for reading and commenting.

Love the lightness of the memorial statue. The incident did affect the city in a big way and it is something that should be remembered by the citizens, especially those who had passed away due to the incident. Peace.

yes, I do do!! the light is amazing and it actually lights up and glows at night. Sometimes when the memorial at 9/11 sight and this one light up it appears as if they meet. It's very touching.
it is definitely remembered every year and yes it did effect us deeply. thank you for stopping by.

Impressive memorial and RIP to all who went in the 9/11

Thank you for your sweet support and blessings. xx

That is the least we can do for the innocent souls that passed in this day

I totally agree, that is why I did it while I lived in the area. :)

Keep the good posts up waiting for more interesting contents

hah! you’re funny ...

Every memorial gives me the creeps, I do not know why. My heart and love goes to you and all those people and their families 💚

Hmm, I guess you do not visit cemeteries? LOL
Thank you for your heart and love!

This must have been hard for you to write. A nice post of a beautiful memorial. I like that you pray for all the lost ones. A great thing you do for them xxx

Yes, and thank you for understanding. I just love your intuition and care. Thank you my dear friend. Hugs and love to you. xx

love and hugs to you back xxx

hugs hugs and love back back ... this is how you get so many comments right? ahahahahah

HAHA sending love to people is a great start :p
But it does all start with connecting to the right people and truly seeing them and what they have to say ;) And I think you have great insight and good things to say to everyone ^_^

Ahhhh nice! Yeah, I make my rounds and I find that I comment more than many people on that list but somehow I'm getting subtractions WTH??!! I comment over 350 a week. SMh

what do you mean by subtractions? how does that work?

That was such an unthinkable tragedy! I live in South Africa but still remember our office coming to a standstill when we heard the news on the radio, and I said a silent prayer for those affected.
Thank you for sharing the photos from the Memorial here @eaglespirit.

Thank you so much for your kind support and I totally agree. Unthinkable tragedy. :(
We are oh so very grateful for your prayers and all those who chose to lend their voice.
Blessings,
Eagle

Must have been horrible to have been in the buildings when 9/11 happened.

I never said I was in the building.
