This brought back memories of being hungry so my son could eat. I remember sending him out to fish, making a game of it, but the reality was no fish, no meat.
A neighbor had given me 50 pounds of leftover potatoes from his farm. No potato was bigger than a quarter. Took forever to clean, and i got inventive for the menus. I even made potato bread.
We foraged for dandelions and other weeds to make salads.
I had almost forgotten about those days.
Thank you. I am so blessed and grateful.

It's amazing how things come back to you. I truly think it engrained the life that i lead today. Being off grid, homesteading, self sufficient.
