I started meditating this year and have already had some very interesting experiences. I tried a guided meditation not too long ago when I was going through a stressful time and it really changed my perspective. The guided meditation I chose was for "opening your third eye," a concept I found quite interesting. Deep into the meditation, I started entering a kind of dream state, although I was not falling asleep, and very vivid and spontaneous images started arising in my mind. Afterward I went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night, and suddenly a somewhat mysterious, completely original melody popped into my head. I immediately hummed it and recorded it into my phone. Then the next night I did a guided mediation again and the same process happened! After waking up in the middle of the night again (which is not a normal thing for me by the way) another original melody came to me. I do not normally write music so this was quite new to me, but the experience changed my view on the subconscious. I now believe that the subconscious is responsible for all of the interests and passions we pursue and gives us our sense of enjoyment. Basically, we don't pick the things we end up liking, we just like them, and our subconscious is responsible for them. Inside, our subconscious is like a little boy with a longing to explore and represents the real us.

Wow. What an interesting experience. It is so true that we often find ourselves doing things outside our comfort zone and even going so far as to enjoy them once we open up ourselves to the different possibilities around us. We should all be so bold as to be open to new ideas .
