It's been a while...
Hello there, old friend. It's been a while since I sat down and wrote a post. I'm not here to announce that I'm 'Coming back to Steem™' I guess I wasn't ever here intensely enough to really 'be here' and so could never really have 'left'
Focus
So, a lot of changes since I was last here. The biggest of which I guess is a change in focus from financial gain to my personal wellbeing. And damn, it feels like a much better thing to focus on.
Who would have thought that eating right, sleeping enough and worrying less about money could do a person some good?!
But for real, I'm feeling pretty alive again. This in itself is a pretty big deal, I guess if anyone reading this knew me before then they'll understand.
Try this
Historically, I've always been skeptical when people have claimed that a book, movie, seminar, cleanse or anything really, has 'changed their life' and I guess I'll always feel that way. I wanted to share some material that absolutely didn't change my life at all.. but helped me to change it for myself.
First, I want to say that I've tried all the positivity self-help stuff and it's always left kind of a bitter taste in my mouth. Something never sat right with it for me. Enter:
Yeah yeah, it was on the New York Times bestseller list so I'm hardly digging up some buried treasure for you here. I'd definitely recommend giving it a read though, it's not perfect but it does have some interesting points about the metrics you use to evaluate relationships and events.
Ok, so that was decent but this:
Really helped me gain some perspective on the way I had been living my life and has more, useful suggestions on how I might go about living authentically and with my wellbeing in mind.
In neither of these books will you find affirmations, the law of attraction or anything else that subtly forces you to acknowledge that you lack what you think you lack in order to be happy.
"I don't buy books"
I hear you, maybe reading isn't your deal, or you don't really want to splash out on some books a stranger on the internet suggested. You can find both of these books for free here: https://b-ok.cc (If you like them, consider purchasing.)
Your next investment
This is so overdone but I'm going to say it anyway; Make yourself your next investment.
What do you have to lose?
Welcome back bro! Glad it’s something on a positive note.
It does remind me I’m overdue for some reading.
Long time no see! Nice to hear you're feeling alive again. I've been prioritizing sleep which we all know is important, but for some reason is the first thing to compromise when "we don't have enough time", because of work or whatever, when in fact it should be prioritized even more when working, because it's the number one thing for recovery and well being in general.
Talking of which, Matthew Walker's book Why Do We Sleep is a good one - so I've heard from many people (I've yet to read it myself), but I've listened the guy's talks and podcast visits, so I'm sure it is a good one. So was the Richest Man in Babylon that you recommended a while ago, so I will give your other recommendations a go, too.
Btw, there's Steemleo tribe nowadays for finance related content.

Hey Celestal, long time no see indeed. Thanks bro.
Thanks for the suggestion -I’ll take a look at that one. Glad you enjoyed the Richest Man in Babylon.
I’m really out of the loop, what is steemleo?!
Similar thing to PALNet (I suppose you know, since you use the tag): they have their own interface (steemleo.com) and their own token, LEO. And when you make a post that touches investing in some way (not just crypto, everything investing related goes) you can just put the 'steemleo' tag and the post will be able to earn tokens (not sure if it works by adding the tag before hand, but you could try). But the difference is that it focuses on investing – in any type, not just crypto.
I think it's a pretty cool thing, because the creators are thinking some of the economics of it and trying to create a purpose and value for the token through promotion feature for example wherein by burning some tokens you can promote a post – they've done it better than Steemit thought because the posts show in
And Palnet and Steemleo aren't the only ones – there's a lot of tribes with similar idea popping left and right. Loads of stuff happening nowadays on the blockchain :D
That second book may well be worth the time to check it out.
If you do check it out, I hope you find it as illuminating as I did.
Oh, I just did some return posts too, like kindred spirits, though mine was less preachy
Thanks for the Mobbservation. Good to see you.
