RE: Dreams, Nachos and Cake

in #life5 years ago

I've been having a version of this problem a lot. I'm hip-deep in an extensive project. I love to cook, but by the time I realize I'm hungry it's too late to start anything. (In this @catweasel is absolutely no help whatsoever.) Because I'll be ready to eat my own arm by the time dinner is ready. Soooo, we've been falling back on quesadillas a lot. And occasionally chili -- just to break up the monotony.

Also, by the time I've cooked something even moderately fancy, I'll be tired. And when that happens, don't get between me and the bed or you'll flat get run over. Then it will be a choice between eating & sleeping. Not a choice I want to make.

Have you ever heard of cake mixes, dear? They come in all kinds of flavors. Multiple kinds of chocolate, even. Duncan Hines. They put Pillsbury & Betty Crocker IN THE SHADE!! I won't buy any other brand. But those ... I buy those a lot.

Come to think of it, quesadillas are a lot like the nachos you started out craving. Four cheese though at our house. Not three. You need to come here & hang out with @catweasel . He gets fed regularly. And he eats a lot. Including nachos and cake. (I actually like the "thin chocolate glaze" arrangement.)

Also, among the writers I know there's a story. A writer out for a walk was suddenly struck by the most marvelous idea for a novel ever!!! He fell to his knees to thank God for the inspiration ... and when he got up again, the idea was gone. Vanished. Nada. Zero. Zilch. Zip-a-dee-doo-dah.

I learned from that morality tale years ago. I always make notes. Always. My note-taking equipment might as well be welded to me. It is always right at hand. (Same deal with grocery lists. Around here ... that's a survival skill.)

Take the lesson to heart. You'll never be sorry. Especially if you're a writer.

Someday I WILL be showing up with presents and what fun we will have :D

this cake was as easy as a box mix. Honest. I do wish I would have had already made frosting. if I would have I would have waited to loll.

I like glazes too. one reason I wasn't that upset about dumping it on earlier than I should have.

note taking stuff....... yeah..... I see your point but 1. I would have to not lose it and 2. I would have to remember to use it. Both things are very unlikely to happen. LOLL

@catweasel doesn't know how lucky he is with you cooking for him...... You can always tell him to go out and play basketball if he bugs you too much LOLL
