Body odour is the scent a body gives off that others find unpleasant.
It manifests when the bacteria on the skin breaks down sweat into acids.
Body odour becomes evident if measures are not taken when one reaches puberty.
People who sweat excessively and those that are obese are more susceptible to having body odour.
It occurs in the following parts of the body
Armpits
Genitals
Feet
Anus
Pubic hair and
Behind the ears
Every person's unique odour can be influenced by diet, gender, health issues and medication.
There is a confidence that comes with smelling nice and it affects our self esteem.
It therefore becomes needful to control body odour.
To control body odour,
Keep the armpit clean. Wash with antibacterial soap to reduce bacterial load which results in less odour.
Overgrown hair in the armpit and genital areas slows down the rate at which sweat drys and gives the bacteria more time to break it down into smelly substance. Regular shaving helps control odour.
Use of deodorant makes the skin more acidic thereby making it difficult for bacteria to survive.
Use deodorants and not antiperspirants because they stop the glands from sweating to release toxins from the body which might lead to cancer if not released.
- Maintain good hygiene in other parts of the body mentioned above such as the anus and genitals.
Love yourself enough to invest in smelling good so people don't start avoiding you.
Stay clean and dry always.
