This is How I Adult

Hi, I’m Eve, I’m in my mid twenties and I like childrens movies and Gin&Tonic.

Is there a support group for this?

It’s midnight and I’m not sleepy at all. So what do I decide to do? I pay for Viaplay subscription (because I’ve heard there is newer movies than in Netflix) and start browsing the selection. After a few minutes I saw that they have Vaiana (Moana), a Disney movie I haven’t seen but I’ve listened the theme song a hundred times from Spotify. I pour myself a G&T and press play.

Even now, as an adult, I feel the magic when a Disney movie starts. Can you feel it too?

I hope I get sleepy after this because tomorrow we are going to Hellsinki for the weekend with @escapist! Oh well, I’ll sleep on the bus anyways.

All of this, because I can! Don’t take everything so seriously and don’t try so hard to be a boring grown up, have a little fun and do things that differ from your normal life.

I think this is adulting done right, what do you think?

Edit: omg the movie is SO GOOD, I have happy tears in my eyes.

Sort:

That's how I adult. You're fine. Carry on.

P.S. I think steemit IS the support group, no?

Haha that is a good point!

Thank you for this, I love the quote "Don’t take everything so seriously and don’t try so hard to be a boring grown up, have a little fun and do things that differ from your normal life." That is what I have been trying to do with my own life lately. Great posts keep it up.

What kind of things have you been up to? :)

Been playing more disc golf, hiking, playing some softball and just trying harder to stay positive and enjoy life.

Disney and Gin, sound pretty cool to me. My favorite from childhood days is still "Krtek", in Germany known as "The little mole"... Here ⛄️ is an episode to fit the season 🤩

I think its TOO adult actually, I would like to see a bit younger representation. I’m considering PB&J sandwiches with the crust cut off personally ! :)

I live in Finland, we don’t put PB or J in our sandwhiches! That is just wrong! 😝

What kind of sandwiches do you eat in Finland?

Dark rye with ham and cheese. Though there are these new green things called salad and avocado, I like those with rye bread too.

Yum! I like your sandwiches better! Very adult :)

Do you watch anime as well?

No, I don’t like it 😬

On of the best things about having kids is that you have to do all these childish things like watch a Disney movie or draw or slide a hill etc.

Children are a good excuse to do all those things😁

This piece of great art would not have seen light if it wasn't for kids

That is awesome 😂👌🏻

I'm pretty sure your the first person EVER to call that awesome. Heh I think i like this steemit:)

We are a little weird over here on Steemit 😈

You can be insane all i care you like my "art"

I'm still watching Dragonballz, as most millenial homies that I know lol

Lol... Adulting indeed

Haha we all got a little kid in us!

I've never quite got the hang of adulting. I guess you're not the best person to ask for advice. But then, why bother, it looks truly tedious... Although, I have to confess, I don't think I even liked Disney films when I was 5, and I still don't. Is that sacrilege..?

We can’t be friends if you don’t like Disney movies, it’s too much of a fundamental difference between us. We can never understand each other!

Haha! So it is truly sacrilegious then?! It may be that I've just spent all my life watching the same ones - on VHS originally - over and over and over again, with my little brothers first, and then my own children. I am exaggerating a little, however. I will admit to liking three Disney films. Lady & the Tramp, Aristocats and Fantasia are wonderful, especially the last two. But other than that, I have to risk our friendship and stand my ground... ducks behind the sofa

Lol... I can relate to you so much. Sometimes I would have beer in my hand and I'm watching spongebob on TV. I'm 20 years old! I think this is how adulting should be done, am I right? LOL.
And I don't even care what other people think about this. I mean some would call me childish for watching a cartoon, but if I enjoy it, why should I care what others think?
It's always best to do what you like and enjoy!

I love Spongebob! But your ”adulting” doesn’t count, you are still a child 😈😈

Haha, so it seems :P I would love if it stayed like this forever! You know, being a child :D

Everyone has different ways, your way of having fun reminded us that anyone can still do the crazy stuff even if there are deadlines to be accomplished. Thank you for this!

Uh you're never too old for Disney! Although coming from a guy who has Japanese cartoon characters tattooed permanently on my whole arm you might need to take that advice with a pinch of salt!

Could we get a peek at your arm? :)

Haha I'll leave the selfies to you! I never really like the idea of posting my tattoos online purely because Ghibli tattoos tend to end up on pinterest and everything else and I love knowing mine are at least a little unique!

I agree with you, let's keep adulting this way :) nice post!

When I encounter someone with a broom handle up their ass, I try to use humor to dislodge it. A lot of adults are grim and sardonic, convinced that their lives are over (because of some responsibility).

Its absurd.

You become what you fear on that path. I prefer to be stubborn and not giving two shits what anyone thinks. Because its my life, not theirs. If they choose to be humorless prigs, they can.

I just choose not to be in their company.

You know the best thing about being newly self empoyed is that I can literally choose my company, always! I don’t have to deal with coworkers I dislike and difficult humourless asshole customers. Best decision of my life.

You're funny! Do what you like as an adult or a kid. Life is life.

Being an adult does not mean losing and leaving behind the beautiful things of childhood, I really enjoy comics especially when my nephews are at home.

What gives? You couldn't turn on the webcam and let us watch you watch a Disney movie?

Just kidding (mostly). Enjoy your boozy movie break!

Oh yes, I do feel the magic of Disney movies. I loved Beauty and the Beast and Tangled, though I'm not a big fan of animated movies.

I'm sure you will sleep by the time you are done with the movie.

I admittedly LOVED Moana. I was forced to watch it while in Disney World over the summer with my ex-gf. It was definitely a great new kids movie. The songs were in my head the entire trip... it kept me up at night.

I have children and I do the same thing, watching disney movies, drawing with him and also telling stories of some disney movies we've seen together 😍

Nice post dear thanks for sharing

Such a great movie! I cried many happy tears too lol I really related to the grandma lol Enjoy Helsinki!

The movies from Disney were always good. I feel like an irresponsible adult too so I guess you have nothing to worry about!

My idea of a perfect weekend date is her coming over, chilling in my room, she reads her book or uses her phone, me likewise, cuddle, Netflix, pizza and bang.

No going out because humans are out there. That's how I adult.

I have watched moana for more than 7 times already. That basically happens if you have children at home. Hahaha. I have 3 nephews and they love moana very much. They also have loved elsa and anna in Frozen, as well as Hiro and Baymax in Big Hero Kids.

I think these are three of the best animated movies to date.

When I was growing up ways of recording anything were either not invented yet or were out of reach for regular people. This meant that every Sunday night Disney would sign on and sign off the air while I was at church with my mother. My dad never went to church so he watched it. Maybe that's why he wouldn't go. Grrrrrr. (simulated human growling).

Disney & Pixar's movies are my favorite movies.

Moana is my fav. :)

I have been craving a good gin and tonic!
Loving how you adult haha

hahahahaha me too i often watch disney movies specially moana my little brother wants to watch it :D:D:D
"moana make wake way make way" i forgot the lyrics but its something like these

Adding it to my list. (The movie, not Gin&Tonic ;-) )

Nothing wrong with loving a little Disney Magic, no matter what age! The wife and I are big time into all things Disney. I bet you are looking forward to Disney's new streaming service, I know we are.
