After landing in Sao Paulo yesterday we needed to find transport to get us to the city centre where we booked an AirBnb.
Friends living in this city recommended we use Uber.
And so we did.
I connected to the airport's wifi and ordered an Uber on my phone inside the airport.
2 minutes later it arrived in front of the terminal.
I was impressed.
(It also would be the last time I would use my phone in public that day).
The driver brought us to the centre in a little bit over an hour.
Total cost for the trip: 90 Reias or around 20 euro.
We rang the bell of the AirBnb we are staying at and were welcomed by a nice older woman.
She started talking with Bianca and basically never stopped.
We went out to get some cold beers and snacks because we were starving.
In this case meat filled pastries.
After this and a couple of beers I felt normal again :)
I got on my laptop and finally could answers some comments in peace which is what I did.
The internet is not that fast here and sometimes just stops working.
I will take more pictures but probably not from Sao Paulo.
Every Brazilian I spoke to before the trip recommended to never ever flash your phone in public anywhere in this city.
As a 2 meter tall gringo I stand out enough so I'm taking that advice seriously.
This is a pic from this morning from the place we are staying
It's 7am here.
Time for breakfast!

I am so glad I am able to read your posts on Steemit. In this way, I can follow all your and Bianca's adventures. I enjoyed your post about the smooth flight and now I have an idea where you are staying and how you and Bianca are doing. Love mom.
So cool that his mum is with a very new technology, my mum wouldn’t have a clue lol
Haha, many more updates to come :)
Excellent photos, my friend and I are very glad that everything is going well for you and I hope it will be even better! I can imagine how many new impressions you have from Brazil and I wish you to rest as much as possible. Well done! Thanks Mark
Hello dear @exyle, it's good that you're already there, and of course your size will draw attention wherever you are, be careful and try to be very cautious with your mobile phone, enjoy your stay.
That’s a surprise of the day. Are you really that tall? I was already surprised when @louisthomas said he is 6’4” tall. He is one of the steemiens I fallow. Anyway, you are lucky to be able to spend your time in this nice place and at the same time earn Steem.
Nice looking snacks @exyle and great view. Have fun on your first day in Sao Paulo. 😊
Wonderful journey you have and you reached in your destination safely. All the photographs are awesome. I also use Uber cab when i visit here to other cities like Lahore and Sialkot. It is very affordable and quick service i have ever seen. Anyway thanks @exyle for sharing your story.
wonderful journey you have and also you reached in your destination adequately. all of the pics are incredible. I additionally use Uber cab when I go to right here to other cities like Lahore and Sialkot. it is very low-priced and short provider i have ever seen.
@exyle
What a beautiful sunrise, @exyle!! And enjoy your meal. I can imagine how they'd turn around and see you in that size and that picture. Your girl sure is proud of you. It's true, in some Latin countries, unfortunately, you can't get your cell phone out in public because they can steal it, just like your laptop and the Internet sucks. You'll get used to it. Take care of yourself!
OOHHHH I'm so excited! I'm already in Brazil! I'm almost at the friends' wedding! Enjoy your stay in South America! Greetings from Venezuela!
Thank you!
Be careful and hopefully you have a great time there. Uber is pretty game changing. I used it for the first time a couple of years ago in Vegas and I was so impressed with how easy it was. About half the price of a cab ride too!
I use it all the time here now. It works great.
Glad to know about your trip and safe arrival at your airbnb . Nice sunrise picture of Sao Paulo, it looks like a big and busy city. Be extra careful in the crowded areas like markets where people are in very close proximity, that is where pick pockets mostly hang out. Other than that have fun :)
It might be fun to buy a burner phone and flash it instead. I doubt if anyone would try their luck with a 2 meter size James Bond looking character. But you would need to wear your suit.
LOL!
Beautiful view from your Airbnb. Will you be staying there for the entire trip? Enjoy the food too! The wedding will be awesome, like nothing yu have experienced so far...
Cool trip!
Glad you make it.
Glad you listen to not taking pictures
cause your phone is a liability over there.
I heard they love iPhone and you know the rest.
Have a safe time over there.
Every Brazilian I spoke to before the trip recommended to never ever flash your phone in public anywhere in this city.
Interesting and scary at the same time.
Stay safe!
Hi!
Your trip looks like an amazing adventure haha. And yes, NEVER show your phone in Sao Paulo, its an very cool city but sometimes it could be dangerous. I have some friends in Santa Catarina and they told me to go to Ibirapuera, that's a park compared to New York Central Park, yopu should go there and take some photographys.
Hope you have a good trip!
Thanks for the tip! But I don't think we have enough time. We moving tomorrow to the city of the wedding.
Maybe you could do it next time. I hope you enjoy the wedding!

Wow great looking sunrise! Might be a nice change of pace to put your phone away for something different! What might happen if ppl see you on your device in public? Would you be attacked? Even a big guy like you! Wow..

getting around sao paulo it's more expensive than I thought. Were you aiming to stay in a place with a nice view ?
It was a very long drive. I thought it was ok.
Beautiful journey to the southern hemisphere, why the brazilian prohibit to take photographs? The pastries look very delicious .Enjoy your trip dear.
Such a trip man..if you are coming to Uruguay give a shout! We are based in Punta del Este. Enjoy the trip :)
Awesome start to an exciting journey looks an awesome time you had :)
are you saying that Brazilians steal phones??? Or forcibly rob them?!!!! Hmmmm
