Baby Sam sleepover!

in #life7 years ago (edited)

My friends that have kids always tell me I have no clue what it's like to be tired and have kids.

I sure have a better idea now after this small experience. Man, I need a holiday.

From the moment he arrived yesterday till now Sam has taken most of my time. And even after he went to sleep, the worry was in the back of my mind.

He is a great little fellow though and my sister could finally go out for the first since he was born (so she said).

My sister and Thomas (boyfriend) wanted to cook me dinner yesterday as a thank you for taking care of Sam for the night. How cool! They brought Picanha, Burgers, and vegetables to grill. It was great!

Together we put Sam in his bed at around 20:00. They left after he fell asleep. It was just me then. This is how I looked pretty much the whole evening. He didn't wake up once. I went to look to see if he was still breathing several times.

Bianca was out for the night so I waited till 0:30 am till she got home and we went to sleep together. In the morning I was awakened by an unfamiliar noise. The clock said 6:20. He was awake already...

Bianca is very good with baby's so she changed his diaper and put clothes on him

I was a pro at feeding him his first bottle. I made it myself.

The rest of the morning pretty much looked like this - VIDEO

He's sleeping now. It's only been 3 hours since he first woke up but I feel like it's been a week.

I don't understand why it's so intense. But it is. Imagine day after day!

His dad will pick him up around 12:00.

I'm am very proud though that they trusted me with their son.

And I think we did our utmost best to make him feel great!

I think I'll sneak in a small nap of my own now :)

The look on your face in your video and then the cartoons brought a big smile to my face and a chuckle. :) Raising a child is 24/7. It's a lot of work and in my opinion, but the most rewarding thing there is in life. It looks like you did great man. Bravo!!

It's a huge transition b/c your time is not your own anymore. From the first second my eyes met my child's I have been filled with a love that is greater than anything mere words can describe. You will do anything to keep them safe and provide for them to make them happy. Any sacrifice you have to make you do without any hesitation.

When you said you went in several times to make sure he was still breathing I had to smile. I'm the same way still. We have 3 girls and our youngest is 3. I'm a bit of a worrier, my wife is not, she's incredible, but I'm still overly protective. I guess that's just in my nature.

You did great man and thank good for Bianca right? :) I've changed my fair share of diapers over the years, but the whole poop thing is still very scary, lol. Bravo again man! Now you deserve to go have a cold one and go enjoy that nap! :)

I have no idea what nurturing a child is like. I only seem them as little bundles of joy but I guess they can be a real hassle sometimes. Especially when they are in their sleeping cot covered in shit haha

It is always great to see Sam. He is so adorable it warms my heart seeing his deep blue eyes and his jovial, jubilant face. Great to see you are willing to look after Sam for your sister.

Despite the fact, Sam had drained all your energy at least you were able to satisfy your hunger with some Pichana and some burgers with vegetables which is pretty cool of them to do for you.

I can't believe how quickly Sam awoke but I guess kids are destined to try and make your life hell. Either keeping you up all night or waking you up early. At least Bianca is able to enjoy all of this. Amazing to see how good she is around children :)

The peek-a-boo thing with the towel made me so happy. I just can't stop smiling. Well I hope you have a great nap @exyle.

LOL! I never forget that diaper!

Haha this is parent-experience beta, I'm sure it gives you a good insight in a possible future.. I cant share any experiences in parenthood but as an 'daddy to be' I will get my portion of it later on. The moments that I get to experience with the kids of my friends and family tell me that being a dad(or mom) comes with great responsibility and changes your life for sure, it also tells me that it will make your life so much more meaningfull and you will love it if you are lucky enough to be one! For now enjoy the time you spend with him and the fact you get to hand him back over sometime later :-)

As a man spends more time caring for a child, his brain responds to the rigors and pleasures of child care more and more like that of a woman who is a child's primary caregiver. Congratulations on this new experience in your life, you really need a break after this great job. Sleep Well!

Thanks, my nap was great!

Nice to see you caring for Sam sir @exyle. You and Bianca are taking good care of him and his smile says all of it :)

Thanks, man!

UNCLE @exyle...........Diapers ???

Bianca handled those this time.

@exyle She's a KEEPER !

hello @exyle . I am going to be a father soon - First child. And after reading your blog- I cant wait for all the happiness , excitement and tiredness to arrive soon. I always remember my father saying about much excited he was when i was about to arrive - I never gave a thought..but after reading this , what my father told me ages ago struck my mind again and I know what he meant now. I say - Bring it on! Thank you! Followed!

Good luck with your upcoming fatherhood man! and congrats of course!

thank you. Cant wait to share my experience with you all..good day sir.

I think you should have your own baby soon. You had nurse Sam very lovely. I saw your feelings of father's heart .you looked very nice with Sam, you know friend, female want to be mother and also want to love her own baby. So what say? Sorry to narrate all that, I have seen your this personality too. You are so powerful that I have thought hundred times ,so please don't mind, have a great day.

mmmm...I'm not sure about soon :)

I'm not very old in this community, but so far as I come to know you, that you are a younger son of your ex principle mother. From I am sure that you had got very good education in childhood. You have good personality and also have very beautiful partner. I think you are now perfect from everyside, in this community too you have reached very respectful position, then what are you waiting for friend. Please I am just sharing my thoughts don't take it another way, I am not so expert to advise you,I know my limits. Any way thanks for sharing, have a great day friend. Please leave a comment if you have time friend.

I don't know why, but this post really makes me laugh and I am laughing hard!!!! You look so tired :) So when they call you again real soon to watch this little cutie again, will you say yes .. and with excitement in your voice? I am glad you got to experience this, its good that baby Sam got to spend some quality time with Uncle :) Thanks for keeping your word and posting about this, I was hoping you would.. Great job Uncle!!! SUNSHINE247

He's coming back the second week of September. So I guess that's yes. :)

raising kids is a full time job.
and I mean 24/7.

After today I think it's an underrated job....

It's incredibly difficult...it's SO difficult that it requires 24/7 attention for the first few years...other wise we get what you see every day on the nightly news.

Nice post @exyle sir, the little sam is so beautiful and he is also enjoying your love and attention towards him, i am sure little sam is also feeling important and loved.

Thank you!

You have got to get Sam a Pokemon t-shirt similar to the one you were wearing in these pictures. Or even better dress him up as Pikachu or Charmander. That would be really cool, but then your sister might never bring him back to your place.

Nice @exyle sir, you and bianca did a fantastic job to tackle the little sam and the little sam also looks so much happy to spent time with you his smiling, eating and playing with toys shows that he is utmost comfort in your house, i think by spending time with sam is an opportunity for you to model parent’s behavior. thanks for sharing

Thanks!

I have three, two with special needs. It is rewarding but I know what "tired" is for sure: It is an expansion of one's capacity to love. Great story BTW

This kid is so cool it could be in commercials! Well a guess a lot of dutch kids look like him so maybe for you it's nothing special but he looks like an angel with a lovely calm energy! PLease tell him that or at least his parents!

Oh wow! This must be so exhausting, but just imagine having this all the time! I'm sure his parents enjoyed the day a lot and I'm sure you did too when you think back :) I think it's great that you helped the parents out and it seems like Sam likes you a lot too :)

Hehe Exyle , now you see different side of the coin :) When you see how other people handle their kids, it seems so easy, but there is reality behind it - and it is a very hard job :) Now you felt it too :))

Thank god you now finally know how half of te BBG crew can feel at times. Welcome to my world.

That said, I will post this again here :
It's a trap!
Bianca and your sister are in the cahootch together, conspiring against you to 'ease' you into fatherhood at some point in the future. I guarantee it ...

Forewarned is forearmed buddy ;)
FLY

j/k of course. I love my kids and I think you're doing a great job whenever your favorite nephew is over. He looks very relaxed being in care of his uncle's giant hands.

No, it's a trap! lol!

I love this cute baby and uncle has done a great job. I guess your sister must be very proud on you @exyle

you want a holiday too quick hahah by the way too adorable pics :)

I hope you and Bianca did get a little more rest!:) Babies are a lot of work and new parents are often exhausted but if you ask them, they wouldn't want to change anything and remember, they don't stay small forever.

Ha ha :D It must have been a great experience for you. It could be useful in future.. ;P

your sister will be happy to go out again for once she is lucky to have you watch over the baby :). Kids are adorable. You get so much love from them!

I understand the nervousness you had taking care of baby Sam being his first sleep over. Thank God he is such a good sleeper and didn't disturb you. Baby Sam is so cute and he feeds well, from the video you seemed like a natural taking care of him. The second time around should be a breeze.Thank you for sharing have a great Sunday :)

I think I will feel more comfortable the next time!

Hi @exyle, I want to ask you a favour please go here and vote for me in the comments section.https://steemit.com/africa/@jimbojones/i-want-to-give-someone-in-africa-a-free-laptop

You invest love and time into young lives. Like Steem, there is no guarantee of any return. But you come to give again tomorrow because it is fun. Changing lives by giving is worth the time.

Thank you, I think you made a very solid point. My sister loves that boy more than anything in the world but you are right you have no idea what he will become.

I have the same age kid ;) Just think how's life going on :D You are lucky that kid was not awaken at night :D If you had my kid... you will understand the meaning of Unlucky :D
Nice post and thanks for sharing!@exyle,

Cheers~

That must be hard when he wakes up all the time. I hope that will pass soon for you.

You gotta sneak in them naps while you can. You are totally right. Day after day it can be madness, you begin to feel like you are in an alternate reality!

You take care of your baby with very nice, I am cruel with your baby, sweet and handsome like his father ... He he.

nice family !!!

You did great and will surely make a great parent...keep it up...@exyle
