Almost everyday I wake up around 7 am.
I get up, I make a can of coffee and crawl behind my pc to stabilise.
My workday starts around 9 (I'm self employed) but I like to relax in the morning checking Steemit and the latest crypto news and that's why I get up earlier than I have too.
It's also the time where everything is still quiet.
This always works fine for me unless on the days were I actually have to get up at 7 am because of a business appointment that could not be planned later.
Whenever I set my alarm because I need to get up early I experience the most amazing blissful sleep that night.
Always rudely awakened by the irritating alarm bells coming from my iPhone.
It's always those days where I could potentially sleep till 9 am :)
I don't why this is.
Being self employed has its plusses. Being able to manage your own time is by far my favourite one.
I'm always reminded of this when I have to leave my house in the early morning like today.
I was on my way to Rotterdam and instantly hit traffic. (Something I normally avoid by just planning around it.)
The reason for this is of course simple.
Me and a million other people are trying to reach our work at the exact same time causing massive congestion.
When looking around at the people in the cars I often notice acceptance.
I guess it's a common day occurrence for most people and they have gotten used to it.
And later today they will have to go through the same thing on there way to home.
Such a shame.
Waiting (or losing time) is one of the biggest waste I can think off.
For me this is actually one of the biggest reasons to chase financial freedom.
It's not about being able to buy stuff it's about gaining extra time and the freedom to spend it.
I'm not sure if this makes sense to everyone.
But it does for me.
OMG, this is EXACTLY what I try to explain to my friends/family/relatives.
Sorry that you don't speak french, I am writting a blog for severals years now about financial freedom (and not buying stuff :D) / not to act like a sheep (everyone in the car stuck in the traffic jam in the morning).
Thanks you so much for this kind of such great post. I really enjoyed also speak with Bianca about not buying stuff and having liberty instead. Stop buying, start living.
If we reduce our needs also, we will have more time (less cleaning / less tidying / etc)
See you my dear @exyle !
Exactly
Most of us lose a lot of precious time comuting to work. It's a real shame that we end up spending years of our lives in traffic. Maybe steem will be the answer for the people reading this :)
I hope so.
This is absolutely true! Having free time to dedicate to your passions is the real freedom, buying stuff is just a whim
It makes a lot of sense and when you work for yourself you actually tend to work hard. Time is the most important thing in life when used precisely.
You are a genius family your mother @clio your better half Bianca every one are legendary status. Yes we also need freedom of time, specialy the morning sleepy melodious. But compel to start for the day very boring. But have to hang out for the responsibility. Thanks for sharing such a great post. Good luck to you and your princess.
You are absolutely right. Time is your #1 asset. You can replace almost everything else but time.
well said..you will NEVER get your time back. Spend it wisely.
I lived in Seattle and the traffic was rough. Eventually they let people pay to use the carpool lane to save time. I thought it was ridiculous how much they would charge, but there were times that it was worth paying to avoid sitting in traffic for an extra 15 minutes.
I understand that. In traffic time slows down and 15 minutes feels like an hour.
well said @exyle, i agreed with your words, you really do a great efforts and now you taking a reward of that. exactly most of time you should engaged. time never wait for anyone. i appreciate your effforts. good luck.

Steem On...!
Also self employed and have been most my adult life. Honestly the times I had a "job" were completely soul sucking and left me hating life in general. Have a real hard time working for people who know less then me yet feel they should tell me how to do what I am skilled at.
Only had 1 job that nobody told me how to due what needed to be done and that wasn't to bad. But I was so good at it a client stole me away with a pretty nice offer. Was to young at the time to realize that money wasn't everything when it came to work.
I only worked for a boss once. For 1 year. It was a good lesson in what I didn't want to do with my life. Still took me another 10 years after that to see the light and start working hard on improving my situation.
It's not something everyone can do and those that can succeed at being self employed need to be very driven. Find it tends to say a lot about a person if they can make it work.
You are so right!!! I have that same freedom now, and it's wonderful!
Hi ma'am you are a genius mother of a very wonderful and blessed child. Thanks.
You should enjoy it as much as you can!
Totally agree with you, my friend, that's the main advantage of self-employment, when we can dispose of our time and finances at our discretion, so to say, this is all the charm of what is happening. Thank you @exyle
i agree with your points my friend, financial freedom is one of those things which surely gives us extra time and we able to spent that time with family and children's and also able to do some extra activities, like playing sports, going for an outing which is equally important in life, it's true that stuck in the traffic is always irritating and in this way we are losing our precious time but that's how life moves on because not every one is financially free and to able to achieve it one needs lots of hard work and good fortune also, I wish you to succeed in everything you do: in work, family and relationships with people. May all your dreams come true! Stay blessed and thanks for sharing.
Wow!!, one thing I like most on your blog, its all about your lifestyle, and it's just perfect.
Good write up, 👍
Thank you.
i couldnt agree with you more bro! to me, time is everything. it doesnt matter if you have tons of money yet you are unable to enjoy it because you're too tied up at work and busy. some people are too focused on chasing after money that they dont see the value of having time and spending that time with the ones they love. and when they are already financially free, they're also too old to enjoy the fruits of their labor. its pretty ironic to live life that way dont you think?
I agree with you 100% time is the most valuable asset. When you lose money you can always earn it back but when you lose time it is gone and unrecoverable. I too am after financial freedom, I want to work on my own terms building my dreams as opposed to working for someone else. I wish you a great day ahead, thank you for sharing :)
Good luck chasing it. Once it becomes a real goal it's pretty fun. Have a great day yourself!
I agree with your thinking on the subject. I've been self employed for almost 40 years and most of the time I'd not have it any other way!
It really makes sense.. today 24 hours is not enough to everyone.. As a person who worked 4 years as flight attendant and woke up any time of a day, I really feel how a bad feeling is that to be waken up by an annoying alarm.. I totally agree with you that freedom is to buying whatever you buy, it is to able to manage your time as you wish..
Here I am sitting in traffic on my way to work reading your post... but at least i’m making good use of the traffic this time. It was nice meeting you in Lisbon @exyle, happy Friday, someday we’re having a bbq
He, man! Was great meeting you. Would love to have a bbq some day!
These days I have started listening to educational podcasts while I'm in the car so it doesn't feel like such a waste of time (tho I often can't resist the urge to jam out to some loud tunes in the car, instead!!)
The only reason I want to be (and will be) a millonaire is cause of this, financial independency. I don't give a rat's ass about commodities.
Great to read about the fact that I am not alone in feeling this is wasting your time.... Not only do I get frustrated being in traffic, standing still in it makes things worse... There for... I plan and avoid in what ever way possible...
Niet helemaal zeker maar... Rotterdam?
Groetjes vanuit Woerden :D
Greetings back :)
I totally agee with you. I think time is way long the most precious resource we have, and it looks it's always low. I hope to never fail in one of the commercial world traps, to aim having a lot of things but with no time to use it!
Absolutely.
Time is priceless, 'stuff' can be bought.
Good to meet you (guys) at the festival, I'm going to write a bit about it today.
Have a good one man!
Was great fun man! I miss the fest.
Yes it was, lots to ponder in the aftermath. Looking forward to the coming months even more so now :)
Thanks mate, enjoyed that.
I am a private chef and tied to my work breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The ability to not do that is becoming more and more attractive as I get older and as the kids get older.
Just have not though of anything yet.
At least with my job the commute is 2 minutes, from my room to the kitchen.
Michael
That's a nice commute. Much better than mine this morning!
I agree, having time you can spend by yourself is far the best... buying things is also not for me.. Imagine you have to go in that traffic jam each day until you are 70 years old....
Oh, yes, your theory of financial freedom it really makes sense to me too. You are more relaxed when you have control of your time. Check it.
I can't be more agreed with you, while every people at my current job are working hard to get raised to win more money, I'm just keeping my current salary and asking working hours reduction. That! for me is quality of life :D
You catched me at the headline. I think that is the definite reason I want to be financially free, because of time
Very true words @exyle. I must admit herein that self employment is self freedom.
Frankly, Freedom and time management is a big gift one can't get from the best employers.
Note: No Employee ever made it to Forbes list.
Great Article
smart saying.
I totally share the title of the post. Normally in this frantic day to day we think of money as a tool to increase our consumerism. For me it is the tool that allows me to spend more time enjoying my life with my family and friends. And since I discovered steemit, I also wrote ... Something that I had never considered before ...
Great post! That makes perfect sense to me. Every day I leave very early and arrive very late and I lose hours in the traffic. And even worse ... I depend on the bus! I hope this reality changes soon. It is very annoying to work a whole month and not have the time to buy something that you like or go to a place that dreams because you are stuck with a company.
Have a great day, @exyle!
@exyle,
You are absolutely correct my friend! "It's always those days where I could potentially sleep till 9 am :)" yeah I had the same kind of feeling when alarm rings!
Anyway how could you manage your financial freedom? Without job surviving is not an easy task! Hope to hear more about this! I am really curious about your life style!
Cheers~
absolutely 1000% having things on your own terms means you can be the boss you always wish you had. and it's on you when it goes wrong. i love managing my own time instead of being a drone! :)
Totally!
I moved closer to work I used to commute an hour each day and felt was wasting my life in a metal box. Hopefully I will be working out of the house soon
Fully agree on your point. But the more strange is the fact that people from the South works in the North and the other way around.... why aren’t they choosing for a job close to their homes? Cant they Exchange their jobs ?
It makes perfect sense to me. My time is more valuable to me than expensive goods. Financial freedom to me is to be able to have time to do do the things I want to do, on my time not someone else's. I have been away from hectic city life and a regularly scheduled job for almost 20years now. I can't imagine fighting horrid traffic both going to work and returning home from work...
I'm just happy it's not every day for me. But when it happens it's always a good lesson.
Absolutely agree! It really does seem that as we get older that time flies by more quickly. It has put me in the daily mindset that every minute counts. Compare that to my younger years when I felt like I would live for eternity!
I have not experienced boredom in about 5 or 6 years because I have so many little goals that I fill up every minute of the day working towards.
Sitting in traffic is one of the worst feelings because all you can do is think about all the other things you could be doing and what a big waste of time it is!
Look our for a post I will be making soon about the pros of working home and cons of working in the office. One of these is what a huge waste of time commuting is (time you do not get paid for!!!).
I've also noticed that working from home is great because it allows me to mix things up when I need to. Meaning, if one day I'm feeling extra motivated to write a blog on a certain topic, I can do that first and work on my other work-assigned tasks later! Compare that to a clock-in job where you are required to follow the same monotonous routine, regardless of how you feel or what direction your thoughts are going in that day!
IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE! Being able to avoid every days traffic is freedom! Especially if you can fill in your own time from for example working from home.
People think I am crazy when I wake up at 7 to work on the computer @exyle and this is before going to my real actual job but I do this because I hope in future to gain more freedom.
You and me both!
100% agree with you! It’s real free to be able to do what we want!
Good style of life be the own boss great example
@exyle - God gave us short life time... If we could manage our financial freedom like you did... We can enjoy it Sir.... Nice guidelines you are providing to the community....
To get more audience, I wish to ReSteem your post.

Absolutely right dear friend

When you got down to this sentence:
...I wanted you to continue with a few examples.
For example.... with money you can do THIS, but without it, you are forced to do THAT
....another example, is that with financial freedom & money you could do THIS and never worry about THAT
.....that would have made the story a little more well rounded for me, if you stated the obvious situations that you were thinking about, when you wrote it.
I simply love your articles, what great content and quality of posting you offer the community here on Steemit and abroad.
Thanks a lot :)
