I need to do more while I still can! But what?

in #life7 years ago

After we went to the gym today Bianca told me she wanted to go out today.

Her reasoning: "we need to do more stuff while we have no kids, we always say that".

(I don't know where she got that from...because I never say that.)

Anyway, her idea...let's go have drinks with friends, they are in Rotterdam.

Ooo well, if I have too... :)

Not much later I found myself with a pint in hand amongst my friends (with no kids).

There is just something special about leaving your house and not worry about things.

When I look at my friends and family (with kids) and the logistics they have to go through to do the most simple things (like leaving your house) it's just not easy.

I think if I ever have one of my own, not being able to leave my house will be something I will miss the most.

Therefor Bianca is probably right when she says these things.

It got me to think at-least.

I need to do more while I still can!

But what?

Most people probably have a whole list of things they want to do.

I don't really...

I'm pretty happy in general with everything I have and do.

Like yesterday, with a beer and a pizza and little bit of sunshine.

Or today with Bianca and my friends.

Everyday I just enjoy.

Is that enough?

I think it is....but maybe I'm missing something?

Is that enough?

Yes It is enough @exyle. It's so good that you can take pleasure from simple things. So may people are always chasing the next thing they miss what they have in front of them and then it's too late!

Enjoy what you have right now and don't worry about getting out of the house when you have kids, you can enjoy that in a different way.

That, I think, is the trick to having a happy life. To enjoy what you have right now and appreciate the simple things! 😍

A Super Mario Bros. 3 No Damage run.

life goals!

I dunno. Write a book. You've transitioned to work on the blockchain full time, right? There's stuff to talk about there. Especially nowadays when "blockchain" is such a popular buzzword, there'd be a demand for something like that. People would care.

Funny thing I tried to write a book once. It's in the blockchain somewhere. 7 chapters I managed before I realised I'm no Ken Follet :) I would probably be better at something else.

Haha. No one is when they start. I sucked when I first started writing. I don't dare call myself good even now, but I read some of my earlier stuff the other day, and I noticed a big improvement for sure.

Practice always makes a difference, no matter what it is. :)

As for what to do. When the first big BTC pump happened and I was able to become financially independent, the biggest joy I got was from helping others. It's also been shown in studies that helping others does make one feel happier. It doesn't need to be financial help, but just time and effort which I was now able to afford better than before.

Trying what you can to better those around you is a good life goal if nothing else.

Oh noes, she said it. That means the countdown has started... DO EVERYTHING!

Mark @exyle you and Bianca @bkdbkd are a joy to watch and bring many fun moments to the lives of many STEEMIANS. Thank You for sharing your lives with all of us...................

We moved and lived all over the world after we had kids. Doesn't stop you doing anything.

Excellent meeting with friends over a glass of beer, my friend and it's always nice to chat in a great company, especially when there are a lot of friends around. You are right when you have children, there will be little free time and your thoughts will be with them, but as long as you belong to yourself, you can enjoy life once again or achieve some cherished dream! Thank you Mark.

Your wife is right, this is the best time to do a lot of things when you don't have kids! Cos when the kids arrive, you will find out that your daily routine will be altered. This is especially true if just the two of you are faced with the responsibilty of raising them alone. But if you have family and friends coming around with theirs to help raise ur kids, it becomes more of a communal thing, and you guys wont feel the stress that much.

"we need to do more stuff while we have no kids, we always say that".

Bianca is right! But that doesn’t mean you won’t have any fun once you have kids.

Hello @exyle, Children are not an impediment to have fun or go out from time to time, you just have to schedule and leave them well cared for with relatives or someone you trust, but good that for now go out and have fun, cordial sludos from Venezuela.

I'm glad that your pizza adventure ended well hahaha.

"we need to do more stuff while we have no kids, we always say that".
I'm pretty happy in general with everything I have and do.
....but maybe I'm missing something?
Maybe you are missing the words behind the words, you know, the strange silent and sutil language of women. Pay attention to what she is saying and be prepared to get out of your comfort zone. Greetings.

The things you do when you have kids are just different. Tough, but thoroughly enjoyable. If you ever have kids, watching them grow and realizing how fast time goes means the next time you are sitting there with a pint in your hand not having to worry about child logistics, it'll be bitter sweet. Your children grow before you know it. The fact you enjoy your days, is definitely enough and you are not missing anything i think it's a great way to live and reduce stress (the killer) whatever makes your soul smile!

how about trying to make kids???

a lot!!!

sir, I see you're a man of culture ; )

Yep... love culture, lived all over and experienced many different cultures. But this has nothing to with the 2 of them, they both seem to be ready for it if am reading correctly between the lines ... could be wrong though

lol, believe me I'm not ready.

hehe, then enjoy your beers, your friends and all those other things you can do without kids for as long as you want...
and as a belgian I am glad to see you are not drinking heineken...

Have fun, travel, eat weird foods, drink wine, party all night or be a millionaire. I guess it's good to enjoy it while the "kids" aren't there yet :)

I once told a friend that I never want to get married or have kids because I want to free-- whatever that is.
you made mention of being satisfied with your life right now and to me that's perfectly okay. the quest to find more--more meaning; achieving the impossible has driven many to the age. they cannot live in present, always projecting in to the future; trying to fill their lives with things they dont actually need, things that still wont quench their insatiable needs. cease the moment, enjoy life as it should be--in the present. that's all that truly matters. I hope to find this simple comfort someday doing what I love with the people I care about.

Happiness lies in the simple things of life, like enjoying the company of friends.
your wife is right, when you are a father, involuntarily you place all your time to the children and it is logical that they merit it.
Children are a great blessing, meanwhile enjoy everything you can.
I wish you a great weekend

Have a great weekend yourself, man!

It sounds weird but its good to be amongst people who dont have those responsibilities nor keep adding pressure to have kids as today there are so many who have children for all the wrong reasons, well apparently moms keep telling me having kids dont stop them from going out whenever they want so I guess they have parents handy to watch over their children.

Bianca is right...this is your fun time. When kids come things will definitely change. Be happy in this moment and enjoy yourself to the max.

Smart man to realize opportunities and enjoy your time while you have it. Most folks don't realize until it is too late and then they are reminiscing about that time.

I've got two kids and I wouldn't have it any other way. You learn a whole new set of skills. But I could have also made better use of the time I didn't have kids. :)

Simple math: your present age + 23 = the next chance to freely enjoy going out. At least that’s been my experience. Children make things better Going out is overrated.

Honest advice. Thanks!

great reads here, you are so optimistic and seems contented on the things that you do, I can sense that you find pleasure on doing the simple things. Awesome character @exyle! :)

I think it's nice that you are able to get out and be able to do the freedoms you enjoy doing. Making a list, or a bucket list, of things you want to do or accomplish is something I did this year and I hope to one day finish it. Kudos to Bianca for being able to realize this and for you two to take advantage of it while you still can!

Although I have to agree that you have to 'arrange' stuff to leave the house when you have kids and they are young , it's cliche but you het so much in return... my boys are now 12 and 14 , and there is no block for us to go anywhere. And to be honest I don't feel like I have missed something in their early years. But your wife is right , with or without kids... go out, have fun and (re)discover the good things in life.... a lot of my highlights are in doing cool things with my boys :)

Have a great sunny sunday !!

Thanks man! Have a great Sunday too!

It is definitely a chore getting out of the house with my three kids. They are all 5 and under so at least one of them is having a melt down at all times. 😫

At this rate we might love Bianca more than we love you lol A lady is hardly ever wrong, listen to her. Happy Weekend to you all.

That is good to visiting some time, help to make fresh mind also a healthy activity @exyle very nice to watch your activities.

Bianca is right, enjoy your life while you have no kids 😊.

well, she is definetly right, i am always telling my self the same thing , when you have kids then time will be limited

Look you had a great time ,always listen to bianca.

I think she is right we need to enjoy and go out .

Yeah i am agree with you sometime we have to take some little breaks to have some rest and go for joy without any daily routines and stress.. Friends are always important in our life to have some enjOy and quality time and many more best wiahes for you my friend

Another weekend with friends having fun and breaking the diet? Hahaha is a joke, they look great, I hope the passes well and have a nice weekend

enjoying the fun is more important and being in that moment is really the must

Some people are always looking for excitement and things to fulfil them and they never find it. Others, like you, have found contentment in simple things. I think it is enough to be content and happy. Perhaps a few outings with friends or an odd excursion somewhere would be nice but not something you need to do to be happy.
