Vlog #110: Top 5 reasons to have Steempower + Steem delegation + SMT's.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Steempower is a great crypto investment in my mind. For several older reasons but also new reasons now. This is my Top 5.

Snapseed.jpg

OLD REASONS:

1. Safety

Because it takes 7 days to power down 1/13th of your Steempower to its liquid form STEEM it gives you 7 days in case of a hack to restore your account. It's a great failsafe.

2. Interest

You get a small interest just by having Steempower. It grows automatically.

3. influence and better creation. (great for content creators)

It gives you more influence on the platform (more say over the distribution of the reward pool) and you receive better curation rewards. It's great for content creators.

NEW REASONS:

4. Renting out your Steempower (great for investors today)

It's possible to delegate or rent out your Steempower. It gives a pretty good return on investment. Around 75 SP = 1 STEEM per week. This is great for investors that have no interest in Blogging or being active on the platform but do see the potential.

It's also great for the Price because the more Steem that is locked up the less there is on the market.

5. SMT's (potential)

Smart Media Tokens are planned for early 2018. I think these tokens have a lot of potential to become successful and can take the Steem blockchain to the next level. STEEM and Steempower are needed regarding anything SMT's related.

My vlog:

@samstonehill got his account back! fantastic! (what an example for the safety that is Steempower).

I tested out a bot made by Jesta. By just sending 10 STEEM to another account I got delegated 500SP withing 2 minutes. It worked great. Combining this with SMT could be great.

I talk about it more in my vlog.

Couldn't agree more, @exyle.
I've just moved 5 btc into steem power.
I've leased out 2 of my 3 - 10K SP lots and the price of the third can be bid on until the 24th Oct.

The other advantage is not begging for upvote to the richers who doesn't even glare even though lots of good contents by newbies.

Go look at my first 20 posts.
You need to be consistently excellent over a long period.
Train people to click on your name.

Get the dolphin experience - For less than 7 steem a day.

That's very cool man! And a great way to showcase how to be an investor.

In the scheme of things, it's hard to get your head around just how ridiculously early this is.
Almost everything we do is being done for the first time.

First mover advantages

First mover advantages everywhere.

worst timing ever :D :D

Long term, only time will tell; but do I wish I'd waited another 24 hours?
Yes, yes I do :)

Nice post, though I think you've made a typo :P

Around 75 SP = 1 STEEM per day.

Are you sure it's not ~75SP = 1 STEEM per week?

Thanks, corrected. (quickly while working).

Not a problem at all :D Typos happen all the time ^^

@demotruk is delegating me 1600SP for 16 Steem, a month at a time. Not sure if he's got any spare though - just highlighting the fact it's worth shopping around!

Have a good afternoon man!

Very good info. Regarding this:

"4. Renting out your Steempower (great for investors today)

You mentioned a couple. What service do you use? Thanks

I don't use any service. I'm a blogger. I use my Steempower activity every day. Today as a test I rented some Steempower for myself from @jesta (his new project). I paid 10STEEM for 500SP for 14 days. It was a super smooth experience and something I can see growing a lot in the future especially combined with SMT's.

Atm I think minnowbooster is the best regarding renting out your SP.

True. When it comes to renting DSP, minnowbooster is the best. I've been renting from @neoxian and very recently, started renting from @minnowbooster. A few days ago, I got about 13, 000 DSP/4 weeks for about 350 steem.

@maryfavour.

@exyle Thank You it is Exciting right now. STEEM Is giving us another opportunity to Buy on this Pullback. Bitcoin is now over $5000..........How much Fun is the Crypto Market ??

I'm delegating SP to a few people for no fee. I just want to see them use it. I'll get a little back if they vote for me as I don't self-vote. I think we need to boost as many good users as possible. It helps to counter some of the system abuse here.

Getting your account hacked is a worry. The bad guys will get more sneaky in how they try to persuade you to expose your keys to them. We need the Steemit site to highlight potential risks such as messages from users with a very low reputation.

this is part of the reason why I am reluctant to share my keys. even to sites with a good reputation.
steemvoter i can get into since its just my posting key but giving my private active key to streemian still scares me and I am in doubt as to go ahead or not

I think I've only used my posting key with other services, but I have to trust things like Vessel with my active key. As long as we have control of the master key we can change the others to prevent too much damage.

I trust Vessel also. You don't happen to have any SP spare to delegate do you? :D

I tend to delegate to people with less than you. For now I'm building up my sp

Fair enough, worth a try 😁

Yeah, sorry, but I'm trying to boost the smaller minnows. I could charge for it, but that's too much hassle to manage.

nice post @exyle, it's nice to hear that @samstonehill got his account back and he now fully controls it with the help of steemit support staff and that's great, you also talk about @powerbot created by @jesta and yes it is also a great induction to steemit platform, initially the rate is little too high but i hope it would be getting better as the service fully activated, it's just a test run, but i really like it and defiantly look in to it, you also tell us some great advantages of holding the steem power and how it helps us it's great, stay happy and blessed my friend and thanks a lot for sharing your good knowledge with us, it's really helpful for us to move forward in steemit.

I like the ease of how I got the Steem delegated. You have a great day too!

I just do not get this: paying 10 sbd for 500 steem for 2 weeks:
500 steem is a 0,05 upvote at 100% voting power: so that means you need 5 sbd per week to break even and thats 100 (self) votes at 100% and you can only make 10 per day at 100% and no one writes 10 posts per day

I can see an addon effect if you lease a lot and your initial self vote is big enough to attract loads of upvotes but apart from that where are the economics? what am i missing?

Not everything has to be about economic ROI. I can see many use cases for a temporary boost in SP.

very cool post and vlog, i like it
its a good news for @samstonehill, ihopefully the future does not happen the same thing again :)

Thanks for sharing @exyle very informative , I like the powering down that gives safety to the network and is a safety net against big ins and outs making for more stability. The future Looks bright for steemit and is every bloggers dream !

I still new in this. Actually how does steempower and the cooldown work.
Any place i can learn more in deep on this...

That is very encouraging that Sam's account was able to be restored. No excuse about errors in security, but at the time when something happens out of the blue, it's good to know there are others there to try to help resolve a criminal act.

I was just gonna comment about @samstonehill until I see you mentioned that he got back his account, while all is fine and dandy now, it just shows the importance of account security even more.

Much more for accounts like yours with tonnes of SP vested.

Great news the @samstonehill become the great examples, thanks for sharing your thoughts about steem price and tips for why to invest in crypto. Thanks for the valuable information and message to the people. Thanks, Happy steeming friend.

Powering up is great for security mate, if you get hacked, you will definitely notice it easily and you have 7 days to recover!

It sure is!

Great! Now I have more learning to do. I will look into things you mentioned. I will start by watching this again.

Thank you exyle for this post. You have expanded my knowledge about steem. Particularly about the benefits of having steempower. Im quite new to steemit and i really like the community here! Helpful post!

thank you.

steem power posses a huge power many fail to understand its potential glad you have pointed out the every aspect of it in very simple words :)

I have an argument against:
You are much better off taking it out and investing to other currencies.
Your SP doesnt mean so much, your connections and networking does. I have made much more money thanks to interaction with people (or...whales) than upvoting myself.
And those whales didnt upvote me because of my SP, but beacause of the value I provide.

My not gonna take my SP out any time soon (maybe if Steem hits 2 digits).
Im not gonna invest into it eighter.

I didn't know delegating had such good return on investment. I'll check out what the best methods to do that are, and maybe you can offer some advice :)

It's good to take it when I have something to hand over. I'm new and I have very little Steempower. I tried to rent, it did not lead to anything. All my clicks by the end of 7 days, just disappeared because of a not stable rate. So I did not earn anything.

Hi@exyle this post is fascinating:
Good information. With respect to:

It's conceivable to delegate or lease your Steempower. It gives a quite decent quantifiable profit. Around 75 SP = 1 STEEM every day. This is incredible for speculators that have no enthusiasm for Blogging or being dynamic on the stage yet do see the potential."

Presently, I have an inquiry:

A clients has 200 SP. What amount would he be able to increment through renting highlight of MB? Would he be able to increment as much as he needs or there is a breaking point? Likewise, what's the evaluating?

Awesome post. Worth-sharing and upvoting. Keep up the profitable work.
thank you.

Good post men (Y) ................

That is awesome video and pic!!
perfect combination, so romantic.
upvoted.

Really help what you post a friend

you are so great to check that detail .. i am proud of you

Hi @exyle, This part is interesting:

  1. Renting out your Steempower (great for investors today)
It's possible to delegate or rent out your Steempower. It gives a pretty good return on investment. Around 75 SP = 1 STEEM per day. This is great for investors that have no interest in Blogging or being active on the platform but do see the potential.

Now, I have a question:

A users has 200 SP. How much can he increase through leasing feature of MB? Can he increase as much as he wants or there is a limit? Also, what's the pricing?

Great post. Worth-sharing and upvoting. Keep up the valuable work. Thumbs up.

Steem On!

I am a little confused about the Steem Power delegation. I've delegated around 320 Steem Power to Minnowbooster but I get around 0.25-0.5 Steem only per day. Is there any other group I can delegate my Steem rl

Really help and make us more successful I want to ask how can that way. Honestly I do not understand

It`s a powerful idea. Before please tell me how will i redeem steem power another investor and how will i get SBD to my account?
Sir @exyle,
Please kindly arrange solution for my questions?

Thought that is so beautiful and fun for the crowd

i agree with your thinking. thanks @exyle

thank for information! How to get SP? What we have to do for this.

Daily Learn some new from your post. Love to read it.

@exyle,
75 SP = 1 STEEM per day :D Little bit costly! Mistake nah :D Great 5 reasons to have SP! Thanks for sharing it!

Cheers~

@exyle - Sir, all those reasons are absolutely correct... HODL Steem Power can make us long term profit too.... Nice tips for us Sir.... Therefore, I wish to ReSteem your post.

+W+ [UpVoted & ReSteemed]

I enjoyed reading your post. There's a lot of good stuff.

The reasons you have given has made me love steem the more.😀😀

I need to understand something. I-might-sound-very-dumb-alert! If I purchase Steem at low price, and power up once it reaches 4 or maybe 5$ at some time, does my SP have a better influence than if I power up now at a lower price?

Don't worry. And the answer is No. The influence is the same regardless of price.

Great piece. Steempower sure saves you from hackers, and even if you want to power down, you can do it 7 days before the day you need it, so there is no time wasting.Great one

wonderful information @exyle

Thank you it was usefull! Follow me Im a honest steemitan, I follow back!

steem is great platform for all from content creators to investors all in one ecosphere :)

wow this seems great man thanks for telling all about in details :)

That is really super cool. I will be very happy if you make an elaborate post about the @jesta new project to delegate sp.

oh wow i never knew that SP have that much power i thought it was just a number for how much power an accounts hold lol

The word has not only to spread, that would explain so much...
