We're one day away, guys. One day away from a defining and pivotal moment in regards to the future direction of this blockchain. I, for one, am mega excited about it, with admittedly a twinge of nervousness too, about the massive HF20 update to be released in approximately a day's time.
From my point of view, this is a game of two halves. The first being laying out an important foundation-based infrastructure for the Steem blockchain and the second, the implementation "on top of" that infrastructure, which will be SMT's. As many of you are aware, I regularly talk to @exyle about Steem and everything related to it. And the way I see it, by around August next year, we'll get a much clearer overall picture of how everything transpired as to the upcoming changes we're all about to witness. HF20 would have been in full swing for almost a year by then, the SMT "testnet" and "mainnet" launch would have been done and dusted, as well as the launch of the first wave of SMT's themselves. Of course, things will only continue to evolve more so after the date, but this is what I've personally marked out as an initial long-term timeline goal of mine for Steem.
But back to the present. Tomorrow, I'm hoping for the smoothest transition possible. In that, I mean we, as users, notice nothing on a superficial basis. Things are as they were today. Of course, in the extremely unlikely event that a few unforeseen issues do arise, just be patient and obviously they'll be ironed out by the team. As has always been the case in the past. "Panic mode" seems to set in all too easily for a few community members out there but there's really no need for it. Everything should and will, be fine.
The Steem blockchain does have it's fair share of naysayers. Even some very vocal users of our platform itself! Whilst I'm aware that there are issues that do need to be rectified or mitigated, being constantly barraged with negativity is most certainly not anywhere near providing for a solution to it. Hopefully, many of these issues will be addressed from now moving forward and the final outcome will silence all those that simply don't believe. Only time will tell, but honestly I'm pretty stoked at the potential measures taken to even out the "fairness" model and distribution system as a whole. Steemit itself was only ever meant to be experimental in nature (as mentioned in the Whitepaper itself) to see how successfully a Dapp on the blockchain could perform. Safe to say, the results turned out exceedingly well.
So, now we're about to enter a brand new era of the Steem eco-system. We need good upcoming business models to compliment the tech about to be release by the team. A synergy of those two components have the potential to work absolute wonders and I've got full faith it will work out in the end. And again, there may be hiccups along the way. Failed projects that gave it a go just for there implementation to never gain much traction. Or amendments required to the blockchain itself. It doesn't matter. Just "expect" it to happen thus avoiding disappointment when it does. A simple workaround for us, lol.
I'll be out and about tomorrow so will sadly miss the actual live switch-over to the new hard-fork but I'm sure I'll be getting regular updates from @exyle. Should be good. I'm really looking forward to it. Keep believing and never stop striving to better yourself.
Steem on, my Steemian friends! :)
Indeed! Let's hope for a better Steemit and that everything goes smoothly tomorrow.

Here's hoping. :)
Sorry.. for the repeated comments.. I'm using the partiko app to comment and I think it is reacting to the hard fork.. I have this bug since today..

No worries. :)
I really hope everything will go smoothly, as you said out of the past we can have confidence that it will be a smooth transition.
I'm counting on it. :)
Uhh. Looking forward to the new stuff. Even if its not dusted yet :D

Looking forward too. Interesting times. :)
Yeah, bizzarely, no news is "good news" tomorrow in terms of operability and user experience! Fingers crossed...

Finger crossed, buddy. :)
Definitely some interesting times ahead of us!
It will be great to see where the #STEEM blockchain will go
I pretty excited about it too, bud. :)
Fingers are crossed! : )

You were very vague in your description of hf20 . Looking forward to seeing the upcoming changes whatever they maybe. Updates take time to implement, patience and understanding go a long way.

Check the steemitblog to get more details of HF20. My post is referring to the longer term vision of Steem and my thoughts on this...
Same here, I hope it is getting better and even after this still gets improved throw years.
