I got into crypto currency back in 2014. Besides a scarce few exotic alts, the options were confined to: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple. I remember BTC trading comfortably at around the $500 mark. For quite some time actually. Then, like a bolt out the blue, the price surged straight up to $800 and thereafter refused to budge. I couldn't believe it. I was so pissed that I missed the boat on that $500 deal just one day ago. BTC had suddenly got "expensive" to buy. Fast forward to today and Bitcoin is worth around almost eleven and a half grand. Go figure...
Acquiring BTC is nothing but a mental game of swings and roundabouts. I mean, let's be honest. Even buying one whole Bitcoin right now, requires pretty deep pockets. Especially considering the technology itself is still regarded by many as experimental at this early stage. But just as what happened to me previously, I'm sure we'll all be kicking ourselves when price reaches that golden $100,000 milestone. Imagine buying one for a tenth of that price now though? Well, life don't work like that, because we simply ain't there yet. Only once we get "do" there, the real regret will set in. It's like an endless, depressive cycle of missed opportunity.
Humans can be so set in their ways, which is why I always have the utmost respect for individuals who think out the box. You know, those that won't let a particular belief rest, however much their peers may be belittling them for it. It takes a certain willpower to gloss over public opinion and stick to your own steadfast goals. And the crypto arena certainly ain't no Scientology clone, if you catch my drift.
This tech has already transformed countless numbers of lives, and to add insult to injury, most of it based on a whim. Heard the stories about tech nerds or college students casually sending each other thousands of these peculiar little digital tokens called Bitcoin? Well, a small handful of them actually remembered to store away their private keys for safe keeping with the rest being history. And those singular tales of ultimate success alone, were enough to fuel enough optimism in creating the market space we now refer to as "crypto currencies". To think, where we are today transpired in the space of just one decade. A blink of an eye really, when put into context.
So has the Bitcoin ship sailed yet? Absolutely not. However the chance to obtain a whole unit of currency at this point, is pretty unlikely given the staggering price point. No, what is really happening here is we are fast moving into the era of "millibitcoin" or "mBTC", which translates to one thousandth of a Bitcoin. Something that was predicted to happen back way back in 2014, when I first got into it. Hence I guess it stands to reason that over time, we will eventually move into the "Satoshi" era too. But for now, the opportunity is still wide open. It's just a case of realigning your mindset to the very likely scenario that we might possibly be hitting that magical $100,000 level within the next couple of years. The question is... "What are you gonna do about it today?"...
It all depends on your belief in the cypto prophets and chart readers and that what has happened in the past will happen again in the future. Ask someone if they would sell their second car for $100,000 and "well sure" would be the expected answer. Ask someone to sell the same car for one bitcoin...silence or a quick "no." If the crypto pundits are right one ought to sell the second car and buy a bitcoin. And now.
The good thing is that we don't have to blindly listen to the "experts" in the field but are able to see tangible proof for ourselves. In that, I mean the multipliers that BTC has enjoyed every couple of years since it's inception. Until this pattern shows us otherwise, the sound economics and technology hint that we theoretically have much more room to go higher.
I'd sell that second car in a heartbeat. :)

I really like a post image! Does the BTC actually try to drown RIPPLE with a paddle?

0.61 is pretty damn good, man! I'm all in with the alts for now.
Yeah, I know... :(

Uh, I often think about what my life would be like if I'd heard of Bitcoin a bit sooner. I had a pretty badass gaming pc with a pretty badass GPU back then, and I'm pretty sure I'd have been able to farm a considerable number, enough to last for a long, long time.
Unfortunately now everything's harder, and as you've said yourself, one should think about investing. Investing requires something I don't currently have: MONEY! But yeah, I agree with the bottom line here, it's better to do something today than complain about it later.
Hindsight is always 20/20, man. I was struggling with trading the stock market back then. If only we'd known... :(

Good one!
I usually read your crypto related articles and enjoy reading them.
A few years ago, I had my doubts about bitcoin because of seeing project like ETH and STEEM popping up, making me think the bitcoin protocol was already outdated.
But over the years, I have come to realize that Bitcoin (with the capital B) does have and will continue having value.
And it is rather likely that Bitcoin will be going to 100.000. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy, really.
When Bitcoin does reach a 100.000, it will be an interesting world to see reacting to this announcement.
