"Steemit" and its Internal Wallet Get an Amicable Divorce

in #life6 years ago (edited)

I got the surprise of my life last night when I went to refresh my Steemit wallet after which it only displayed my SP and a link to "Go To Wallet". Of course, it clicked right away as I was expecting this update form the Steemit Inc. team for a while now. Well, can't say they aren't delivering now, right? And in addition, I soon discovered ads being displayed within the main website itself. So, my thoughts?

Well, I must say we've come a mighty long way from a few months back when the announcement was made from Ned that the company was financially on its knees. Since that sickening feeling I felt in the pit of my stomach back then to where we are right now, is a pretty damn impressive recovery. From listening to Steemit Inc. on past @pennsif shows, it was clear that it was a struggle to maintain our internal wallets whilst developing the actual social media website that is Steemit so separating the two, independently of one another, looks like a great move by the team.

The presentation of the website itself has always appeared mediocre, at best. And many users have decried this fact in the past until they were blue in the face. So, seeing as one of the primary marketing tools for any product is aesthetics, I'm hoping to see an improved GUI as well as better overall experience using Steemit moving forward. I know full well this will take time to implement but at least the cogs are set in motion now.

I'll be completely honest and say that the ad placements look quite ugly at the minute. But that's fine as the thing is they are actually "there" and can be cleaned up as things progress. I'm not looking for miracles here and understand that "one step at a time" is the best approach. More importantly, the ads should provide a nice revenue stream that will allow for further blockchain development and maintenance updates. Therefore, I think the ad route, regardless of what others think, is an excellent idea. In times of financial hardship, beggars can't be choosers. Clearly, if money is an issue, it has to be addressed somehow and this seems the perfect solution for now.

All in all, I'm pretty stoked at what I'm seeing. Sadly, that's not yet reflected in the price but hopefully this will change too in due course. And we've still got MIRA on the horizon, as well as the much-anticipatedSMT's. Yeah, that old chestnut again! Nice work, Steemit Inc.. Please keep up the great work. This ship is once again headed in the right direction.

Lol, thanks. :)

"This ship is once again headed in the right direction." is the best summation I've seen about changes lately @ezzy.

It reminds me of what I heard Barrack Obama once say in an interview with Marc Maron about being President; he said something to the effect of (I'm paraphrasing) 'My job is like captain of a huge cruise liner. Turning the wheel doesn't immediately feel like it's taking us anywhere new but I know that the few degree's I've turned is at least in the right direction'

Interesting times ahead, even if it's very (very) slow!

Thanks for the nice words, buddy. I guess we shall all have to wait and see what happens next.

Actually, this relatively new feature on the feed page...

I kind of think it should be with the wallet page too.

That's a great idea, man.

I'm glad I'm not thinking weird. :-)

You've said it all.
