Starting a new job ^_^

in #life7 years ago

After a two hour long panel interview during which I was interrogated thoroughly warts and all, I was offered a new job. I was thrilled of course.

However, as well as a significant promotion and pay rise, both of which are very welcome, I am venturing back into the territory of managing other people. This is the more daunting aspect of the role.

It seems that technical skills will only get you so far in the workplace. To get to the top of the corporate ladder, you have to manage others. Does anyone really enjoy managing others? Can an acknowledged introvert and perfectionist be a good manager, I wonder?

All advice and tips on successful management skills are welcome!

Wish me luck, @Fleur x

I have myself managed others and found it to be a bit of an ego boost but I never let it get the best of me. Just remember to breathe. Congrats on your new job and good luck....

Thanks for the advice and resteem @dreamland 🙂

Providing they know where they stand with you. You cant really be friends with them but you can be friendly and respectful and at the same time expect the same back. If not then you need to lay the law down.
Some folk need an arm around them and others need a firm approach but its only you that can decide who needs what.
Just my bit of course.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice @sheeshkababage 🙂

You'll get used to it, I'm sure. :) Congrats and good luck!
