RE: What Self Defense Training Do You Recommend? Carry a Gun, then Learn Jiu Jitsu

in #life8 years ago

I think it's important to remember both weapons and martial arts. I don't really like carrying pistols, but I do carry a tactical pen. I do own an AR-15. Most of all, I do train martial arts. Mainly I train jiu jitsu, sprinkled in with some stand up like JKD and Muay Thai. I think jiu jitsu and wrestling are good bases, because most fights go to the ground. Thanks for sharing!

I agree and that's an interesting idea to carry a tactical pen. Where possible, I prefer concealed handgun carry, but there are times where an alternative would be useful.

Yeah, I'd prefer to never have to shoot anyone. Of course, that does take that tool away, and does put me at risk. I've always said, if I need to use a weapon, it will be AR-15 worthy lol.

I wouldn't even want to use a tactical pen if I can defend myself without it. But I do like having it as a backup.

Most of my family and most of the people where I work have conceal carry. I may get it one day, but for now I don't feel like I need it.

That's how I feel, hopefully I'll go my entire life never having to draw with a purpose other than training. I still like having the option and think society is safer with more responsible people carrying. I like your AR15 worthy motto :)
