A GOOD CITIZEN LIVING THE GOOD LIFE

Education: It's what we learn after we know it all that really counts.

As a good citizen earnestly trying to live a good life, you have certain responsibilities if you are to live your best. If you demand a wise and honest government in your city, your state, and your county, you must recognize that a wise and honest government is the product of wise and honest citizens, and nothing else.

If you demand that crime be in the cell and not in the saddle, you must support honest law enforcement in your community without any special privileges or exceptions for yourself.

If you demand unfair advantages, government bonuses, subsidies, and special privileges for your business, your union, your city or your state, remember that the price of class and sectional selfishness is the destruction of the character of a nation.

If you demand sound fiscal policies and balanced budgets of your government, you must not advocate expenditure, which, when demanded by all citizens, bring unsound fiscal policies and unbalanced budgets. Every dollar which a government spends comes from the toil and sweat of its citizens.

If you demand freedom of worship for yourself, you must respect the right of other creeds.

If you demand free speech, you must not suppress it in others, or use it to destroy the government from which that privilege flows.

If you demand that a paternalistic government give you complete economic security, you must not forget that a nation's strength comes from each person standing on his own feet.

If you would like to live in a community in which you may have pride, then dedicate yourself in a spirit of humility to your own responsibilities in that community. These are ways to live the good life as a citizen.

You may remember the play "Green Pastures." In that play, Noah said to the Lord, "I ain't very much, but I'SE all I got."

"I'm all I got. " Well, you are all you've got. The question is, "What are you going to do with yourself?" Will you press for the goal of a great and good life? Will you use yourself to make life richer, better, nobler?

This was a great post. An honest reminder that life is all about perception and which side if the fence you sit on!

Thank you very much for stopping by! It's important to be reminded of kindness. Our lives are so rushed we tend to forget what is real happiness and to be content.

thanks, just write about your passion. I will read most things, just don't stick a video up without much effort, those I tend not to upvote

Very nice post thank you for your hard work.

Thank you. My ideas are getting scant!

Don't I know mine as well.
