Fan Shizhong’s design has recently won the transportation award in this year’s Core77 Design Awards, an annual industrial design award held in the US.
Fan’s multifunctional life slide serves as a ladder truck, an evacuation slide and a crane machine, providing a creative solution when saving lives from high-rise buildings in disasters.
While ladder trucks commonly used by firefighters take 20 minutes to save one person and can only rescue three to five people at a time, Fan claims his life slide can rescue more than 11 people at a time.
The industrial design has also won other world-recognized awards including Red Dot Award and iF Product Design Award.
