GREAT post, @papa-pepper! We'll add that not only is shopping at stores draining and stressful and unsatisfying in comparison to providing your own food, but it supports the global military-industrial complex and the rape and pillage of the earth. There's a huge level of cognitive dissonance in consumers, and understandably so--one can't be honorable AND participate in a dishonorable system at the same time.
We value self-sufficiency, and know the worth of a job well done. We value teaching our children to be capable and self-reliant. We value supporting each other and seeing the community thrive, so we devote our energy towards these things. These are waaaaaay richer experiences than selling the precious, limited hours of our lives.
The revolution begins within, and it starts with a shift in values.
