The Coriolis force is caused by the earth's rotation, it makes water and/or air rotate clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere, this cannot be noticed say when you flush a toilet but holds true for hurricanes, they rotate differently depending on the hemisphere.
So apparently the belief that water rotates differently when you flush a toilet is not true, an urban legend, still it would take someone who has been to both hemispheres and has noticed this to know what is true, apparently close to the equator this Coriolis force has no effect. I really thought this was true, I am completely flabbergasted knowing I've been this dumb all this time.
If this effect of the Coriolis force is true because of differences in the hemispheres how does this fit in with the flat earth theory?
