It was meant to be a onetime gig in 1985 but then 75.000 people came to the Nürburgring and celebrated rock! It took a few years to make it a steady festival but from the start till now it is the biggest rock festival in Germany. The name Rock am Ring tells that the festival takes place at the Nürburgring. But this was not the case in 2015 and 2016. Due to financial difficulties of the Nürburgring itsself the festival moved.
This move was very exciting for a minute because it looked like the festival could move to Mönchengladbach, where I was living then. But Mönchengladbach was not chosen. For 2015 and 2016 fans had to go to Mendig to see their favorite bands.
During these two years Rock am Ring had to face serois storms. Many people were injured in 2016 the festival had to be broken up prematurely.
Fans were glad to see Rock am Ring back on the Nürburgring in 2017 but the joy did not last long. Due to clams of a possible terror attack the festival came to a hold on the first day. Luckyly the clames turned out to be false and Rock am Ring continued. But Rammstein could not give their concert.
Not too hard
The music on Rock am Ring is very diverse. You will see acts that feel more like pop then rock but you will also be delighted by legends like Iron Maiden, System Of A Down or Metallica. I have seen all of them on stage. I loved it! I loved it so much that I moved from Rock am Ring to Wacken Open Air. But more on that tomorrow.

to be continued
As you can see Rock am Ring has been on a very rocky road lately but the festival made it through and the fans are already looking forward to 2018. On the official website the organizers say:
We bow to your enthusiasm, your defiance, your devotion, passion, and lust for life! Let us continue to celebrate what we love!
I am ending on that note today. Let´s celebrate what we love, always.

Rock is a broad term that brings together a variety of musical genres. Its original form, known as rock and roll, arose mostly from the combination of two previous genres such as rhythm and blues and country. Rock music was also heavily nurtured from blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazz, classical music and other sources. Rock has focused on electric guitar, usually as part of a rock band with singer, bass, drums and sometimes keyboard instruments such as organ and piano.
Thanks for the adition. :)
