Once upon a time in a land far away there lived a very rich man. He had many businesses and everything that he touched turned to gold. He was a good man and he helped many people along the way, because he could not stand the sight of anyone suffering. As he grew older he started to feel lonely. All his life he was so busy, building up his empire, that he forgot to live his life. He now had all these successful businesses, and all the money in the world, but he had no one to share it with.

He did not know where to start, so he hired a team of experts with specific specifications to find him the perfect wife. It was not long before they made up a shortlist. He was terribly excited so he set up interviews with the best candidates... BUT he was disappointed with most of these women.  None of them was as perfect as he wanted them to be.

He soon became very depressed.  He was so used to getting everything he wanted, that he could not understand why he couldn't find the right woman. He became so focused on finding the right wife, that he lost focus on the rest of his life. His businesses began to suffer, and he started to lose money.

It wasn't long before he lost all his money and his businesses. He even lost his house and everything that he worked so hard for throughout his lifetime.  He had to go live in a shelter.

He became a miserable grumpy old man, and died as a lonely, poor man. No one even cared enough to go to his funeral.

Moral of the story:

1.  Constantly focus on balance in your life. Find a balance between work and play.

2.  Bad things happen to good people too.

3.  There is no such thing as a perfect woman.

4.  Money can't buy happiness.

5.  Cherish the people in your life, otherwise you will also be buried alone.

6.  You can't always get what you want!

Those are a lot of morals to one story! So much to live by :)

Ha ha..yes, when I started making a list this morning then I realized...ha ha ha!

Money is something but not everything!!!

Is this the story of a man who owned Bitcoin at $3000 earlier this week?

Ha ha...no clue...it's fiction but it could be??

It's true, everybody needs to learn how to be happy with what you have. The rat race, so it's called, is creating a race of robotic ppl machines who have no freedom or souls. Just the greed to be better than everybody else, living on a hope n dream that the more money they have the happier they'll be. Unfortunately, very few find what they are looking for.

It's true. It's actually been studied over and over again - after a certain amount of wealth people aren't happier with their riches. And I definitely agree with point number five 'Cherish the people in your life' - they will be there whether or not you are poor or rich.

I told you to write stories as you have the ability so steem on you will keep your son there, that much I know .

Totally agree. Great story to remind us what is important. Have a super wonderful day

Thank you @bernadette may you also have a wonderful day!

Thank you @giantbear

So true!!! Enjoyed your post

Ha, tol notch. I didn't expect it to go that way. It is very true though

Ha ha...I am glad you liked it...lol!

Defo!! :0)

I agree with you. Money is not for everything.

This is the classic story, ''i will be happier when i will have that amount of money'', but hapiness comes from inside not from material things, money can give you just a little more of what you already have.

What a pity...one thing I learnt about finding a wife is you can't have your perfect woman...pick those few qualities u find and build the others the way you want it...the rest...just manage...sad story with a good lesson...upvoted and following already...

Thank you.. I love writing these stories!

Only inner peace can bring about all the happiness we need, thank you for this heartful reminder @giantbear.......!Africa appreciates you.

Hi @oluwoleolaide I am glad that you liked it. I just wish the whole of Africa would upvote my posts...ha ha ha! I am saving up for my son to stay in university, and up to now I have succeeded. I have not yet had to make any loans. Isn't that wonderful! Steemit is great!

Steemit is wonderful i agree😊😁

Lovely story..

Very story @giantbear Thank you

Morality Explained very well

It's a good story and too much morals in it. Keep write story like this. 👍

Morel of the story is absolutely right money can't buy happiness.

Money isn't the most important thing in life, but it's reasonably close to oxygen on the "gotta have it" scale.

That I agree with but people often get greedy, instead of just having enough to survive. Sure it is nice to have but one day none of it will matter...

Nice advice, yes... nobody perfect!

So true bigbear. A story is always a good choice to teach morals.

I don't know. If I had all the money I needed for a lifetime I'd be pretty happy. You are right that you need balance. I'd need my family and lots of love to be happy with all that money.

I agree on this. Though its good to make money and earn, sometimes we just have to sit back and enjoy the wonders of earth. good read!

Very true. There should always be a balance in life.

money can't buy happiness but can buy many essential things for living. its like 2-faced sword depends on the people how they use it (in good way or bad way).

Very true...I will much rather sit and cry in a Porsche than in my Chevy spark...LOL!

I hope you can motivate people again and again with posts like this...

I have always loved writing stories and this is the best place ever to publish them!

true sight 😉

Beautiful story !

thumbs up steem with akkha.jpg

Thank you! Have a great day!

Welcome !

As I always say, money is good, money patches up your problems, mistakes, or shortcomings.
But you could give me all the money in the world and if I couldn't love who I love and be with them, nor use my money to help them indirectly, I'd be compelled to kill myself rather than slowly going mad and burning the whole world.
Nothing can take the place of a genuine loving relationship and loving yourself and who you are.

Love is what life is about right?

Reminds me a little bit of Death of a Salesman 😅 sometimes it is better to pursue the things in life that bring you happiness, rather than those that offer the chance of a reward

So true. Materialism helps but shouldnt be number one.

I agree with that. Money helps, but there should always be a balance. Have a great day!

Because money is not everything in this world, time can not be bought. Dear family do not just chase money.

That is very true...life is short and one day when you realize it is too late. Have a great day!

Hi ! good story .

Thank you!

The story is nice, but very unrealistic. I think such person does not exists. If one is so good in his heart and helps people, such a person would certainly find soulmate, no matter what level of perfection he/she is seeking.
I am trying to write stories, lie this one titled Father and Son. I hope someone likes it.

It is a story. It is not supposed to be realistic. It is fiction. I will check out your story. Have a nice day!

But, if it is a fiction, are morals of the story fictional, too? It is hard to follow any moral if you know it comes from imaginary world of someone. But morals can be improved:

  • Money can't buy happiness, but it will certainly get you a better class of memories.
  • There's no such thing as a perfect person... just perfect for each other.
  • You can't always get what you want but sometimes you get what you need.

@giantbear ... are you sure??? ;)
Cool post, thanks

Yip I am sure...I am glad you decided to join the platform. Great things ahead for you two....you would be able to come back to South Africa and live in your house and you wouldn't even need jobs...LOL!
