One of the main foundations of a home in which dwells the righteousness of the parents. If we want others, especially our children, to be obedient to the principles of the gospel, we must first examine our own integrity and obedience. When we live by the right principles, our children are more likely to follow our example.
However, our obedience does not assure us that life will be more bearable, problem-free, or that our children will automatically follow our example. However, if we seriously seek the Lord's help and try to be good parents, our chances of success will greatly increase.
The example of a father who honestly and humbly is trying to live according to the principles of the gospel can greatly influence his children. Regardless of what we think, children are not discouraged by the imperfection of their parents. In fact, their parents' sincerity and paternal repentance are very important. A parent who admits his own mistakes and sincerely tries to overcome them is forcing himself to be perfect. His sincerity is an invitation for his children to be honored as well. Fathers who keep the covenants and promises they have made with God and men are teaching integrity to their children.
