It seems that many of us have really high standards for being happy. I think as technology progresses a lot of our happiness is based on physical posesssions and while I am not going to try to get preachy with anyone - especially since I am just as guilty as anyone with my video-game addiction - I want to point out a few things that make me just, feel good. They also don't cost very much

New socks
I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that i don't do laundry properly but while my clothes are clean, they normally end up stiff, with the elastic worn out or generally not really looking like it supposed to. I have a bathing suit with red mud stains on it from a trip i did to a rock quarry 2 months ago... i have washed it several times and it looks dirty even when it is clean. I simply don't care enough to change this situation.
The other day I was on a jungle run and all manor of business was getting inside my socks because the elastic was worn out. The next day i went and spent $1 on a new pair of athletic socks and realized that while it might seem a little crazy, this actually made me feel awesome. haha, I don't succomb to fashion really at all, but there is just something about it.
Having a clean workstation / laptop
Go ahead and take a look down at your keyboard. I would be willing to bet it is quite filthy.

I wash my hands right around the amount of times a day that is just below "crazy" and yet my keyboard ends up looking like I had recently been gardening and then immediately decided to write an email. I also don't eat when i work.
Every now and then I clean the crap out of my workstation - which always ends up cluttered as crap - and give my keyboard a good scrubbing (still in awe at how dirty that becomes) and afterwards realize that It simply feels "nice" for this area where I spend a great deal of my day, to be clean.
Seeing my dog happy
I think part of the reason why I like this so much is because it is so easy. I sometimes wish I could be in the mind of a dog because if I dare utter the word "park" or "walk" she goes mental and wont leave me alone until we do one of those things. I never fake offer it to her - that would be cruel.

I think we could probably stay at the park for hours, in the same little area and between all the smells and places to explore in just a tiny little area, she never gets bored. Of course she has to claim everything as her own by peeing in 20 places but her satisfaction in such a simple thing actually transfers to me. Just one more example of how dogs are the best thing on earth.
Opening a new jar of peanut butter
This one might be a bit strange.

I think was does it for me is the fact that the level on brand new jar of PB is perfectly flat and it will never be like that again. I'm not going to try to get all hippy here but this is the only time that the interior of this container is going to look like anything other than chaos. Plus peanut butter smells great. I dunno. I'm strange some times.
Well that's it. If you have any sort of small thing that makes you happy tell me about it in the comments and I'll upvote you accordingly. :)
In the little things of life we can find happiness. I share with you the taste for a clean and orderly workspace, this gives me a special tranquility, also makes me happy to care and share with my dogs. Another thing that gives me pleasure is taking care of my plants, especially watering them.
To open a jar of peanut butter is a great joy, I understand how you feel, but I haven't experimented for some time because it was out of my reach, here in my country is a luxury for these days.
Appreciating the small details that provide us happiness and thanking them allows us to live full and in harmony, my dear @gooddream.
My wife and I have started gifting our nieces and nephews experiences like concerts and shows instead of things because we find that is much more lasting. Toys break and clothes get too small. Spending time with them lasts forever. Yeah, my keyboard is pretty disgusting. It's even an old IBM Model M where I can pull all the keys and caps off manually. I just never seem to have the time.
Giving experiences is definitely the best gift we can give to our loved ones. They are facts that produce more happiness and will treasure in your memory and in your heart. I liked this very much, I also like to make this kind of gifts and books. Greetings, @bozz, happy day.
