Tell Coca-Cola: help solve Cape Town's water apocalypse!
Water is a human right -- but millions of people in Cape Town are days away from running out of it -- the first major city facing this existential crisis! One major player is keeping quiet: Coca-Cola.
Coca-Cola's water consumption in South Africa is massive: it produces almost 40 different soft drinks and bottled water, and has a huge stake in producing beer. But beyond vague promises to reduce consumption and protect water sources, the company hasn't accepted any responsibility to ensure residents have access to water when Day Zero arrives.
12 April 2018 is Day Zero, when Cape Town’s 4 million residents are expected to be without water service in their homes for at least 150 days. Three years of drought, and poor management and planning by national and local governments have led to this point. Bottled water companies stand ready to profit from this human and ecological disaster.
We've seen this pattern before, all over the world: the human right to water for sale. From Flint, Michigan, to Puerto Rico, access to the most basic necessity of life -- clean, safe water -- is controlled by bottled water companies. In El Salvador, Mexico, and India, Coca-Cola has been accused of draining local wells dry and forcing local residents to buy bottled water.
Globally, Coca-Cola used over 300 billion liters of water in 2016. To satisfy its needs, the company extracts hidden groundwater collected over hundreds of years. Let’s tell Coca-Cola that Cape Town’s groundwater is a national asset that belongs to all South Africans -- and can't be sold in times of crisis:

Signed... They're calling this a "natural disaster", but there's nothing natural about it... They created this disaster by ignoring the experts that warned them about this, the city could've supplemented the main water supply with the many alternative sources available more than ten years ago.
They allowed this to happen so that they can force their by-laws on us and also force us to accept their water meters, which is ironically faulty and causing people to experience a "day zero" situation where they are without water for up to five days!!!

I think it's just a warning for Global. I am very shocked how we survive and our nature??? Specially I'm worried about our next generation, our child because they are most valuable in our life. If we think, our child has no water for drinking!!! How are you tolerate this situation. So request to all, please save water from every drop.....

There is no water problem. There is a salt problem. Humans think we're so smart and yet we can't even figure out how to desalinate seawater?

It's all very well telling coca cola to sort out Cape Town's water problem and yes they do use a ton of water. However the water shortage in Cape Town was forcasted more than 20 years ago, more and more people moved to Cape Town looking for work or trying to better theirs lives, the government actually encouraged this but has done nothing to keep up with the infrastructure, now its to late and everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else
In my country Nigeria, water resource is one of the major problem we are battling with , especially the northern part Nigeria.
The government will promise this people rapid development and massive infrastructure if they are elected, but after been elected, they choose to forget this people..jpg)
Righton, though it seems strange as it is certainly a well meaning system, especially in contrast to Capitalism. Communism implies caring for all while Capitalism is basically the fittest rule.
If you believe Communism has killed more people than Capitalism then I'd suggest some alternate reading.
Capitalism has been behind almost all atrocities, including the communising of the Soviet Union and China.
Capitalism has been behind the replacement of almost every legitimate government on every continent with illegitimate factions, sustained with the objective of undermining any force which competes with US political and world domination objectives. These include Asia and particularly East Asia, Africa, South America, the Middle East and even Europe.
I am no communist but I certainly abhor the way in which Capitalists have applied the maxim "All for us and nothing for anyone else" meaning their cosy group rather than capitalists at large.
Both systems have been grossly misused but Capitalism's misuse has been more carefully secreted from the public eye as the sheeple have been manipulated via the most powerful of all weapons the world has ever seen, being modern media, in the form of radio, television the Internet and social media.
Both systems have been misused by the same entities which manipulate governments and world powers, primarily through debt slavery.

I still favour capitalism over most leftist thinking but not the way it has been applied. The essence of Capitalism needs to be tempered with compassion and understanding and a greater commitment to service.
A man considered to be the greatest Industrialist and possibly Capitalist is Andrew Carnegie said some relevant things :

Political ideologies are not the point here, although part of the cause is politics. The issue is that people in Cape Town (and elsewhere in the world) are very interested in living for now without a care for the future. They live under the assumption that the government will provide - which is inherently incorrect. People forget that they have a responsibility to provide for themselves and their family and put aside some for the future. This has not been done by many people and certainly their elected officials.
It is a sad outcome for the lovely people of Africa; however, we can expect this and similar crises to occur in many cities around the world.
Now the government and people will have to pay an organisation, sic Coca-Cola, that has invested significantly to extract resources, process them and set up logistics for delivery. The people and government could have done the same - but chose not to do this in favour of less productive programs of expenditure.
