πŸ’° What is Your PERSONAL BRAND? Work, Love, Friendships and STEEMIT! πŸ’―

in #life β€’ 8 years ago

So today I got the amazing news that I just received an award within my company for being within the top 2% of employees globally, which aside from a little bit of recognition, also came along with a sweet little cash bonus of $2500. I was super flattered to have been nominated, and even more pleasantly surprised to know that some big wigs in an office somewhere in the States looked over my work and decided that I should be one of the few to receive the award. It got me thinking, what exactly was it that helped me to stand out?

From Day 1 in my job, people in the company talk a lot about 'Personal Brand'. Personal Brand this, Personal Brand that, have you thought about your Personal Brand lately? To be honest, before I even started working in my current job I'm not sure if I had even come across the term 'Personal Brand'...

Thank you, grumpy cat. I agree that Personal Branding is important. When I really think about Personal Brand, it is something that can not only help you to think about in your career, but also in your relationships, friendships, and perhaps even your Steemit account as well!! When I try to look for the definition of Personal Brand in google this is what I found...

...I think, even unwittingly at times, in the workplace at least I have managed to cultivate a good 'brand' for myself. So I wanted to take a moment to think about some of the things that I do to achieve that, that I could also carry accross into other areas of my life... like my marriage and my Steemit account.

1. Positivity: πŸ’› You will not find many people in the workplace as positive as me. That's not to say that I don't enjoy a good bitch with my colleagues, because trust me: I love it! But in general I like to be that person that others enjoy to be around, that tries to lift the mood.

I like to think that I try to be the same positive person here on Steemit, I am not one to complain about 'people not upvoting my posts' etc. Probably my marriage is the part of my life where I could inject some more positivity to boost my personal brand with my husband, because it's always the people we are closest too that we are sometimes quick to be negative around.

2. Good Work Ethic: πŸ’š That good old fashioned phrase: "You get out what you put in" can be applied to so many areas of life whether it's work, love or health. I do try to go above and beyond at work, don't take sick days, and generally try to prove myself as that reliable person who shows they want to be there.

The same could be applied to your Steemit account. From everything that I have seen on here, it takes time, commitment and patience to build a good blog. Be consistent, post everyday, say thank you and don't forget to connect with others around you!

3. Respect For Others: πŸ’™ I can't stand working with people who feel they are so superior to everyone else, I work with a couple of people who I'm sure feel exactly that way. I always love to listen to other peoples views, ideas and opinions, and when someone else is doing something amazing, I will be the first person to talk about how great they are and spread the word.

4. Be Yourself: πŸ’œ One piece of feedback I remember receiving from my leader is that I am a very 'authentic' person, which is a great way to be to earn trust and followship from your colleagues. It is probably a good thing to bear in mind for friendships and relationships as well. Personal brand is about who you are as a person, there is only one you so you shouldn't try to put on a front or be someone else. Just relax and have fun making the most of your own positive traits!

What are some other ways you guys think you can improve on your 'Personal Brand' for your job, your relationships and your Steemit account? πŸ‘‘ 😍 Let me know what you think in the comments!!

I try to be positive too! I like to give lots of kisses and make people happy.
But I have fleas, and I think that has been affecting my personal brand lately... :(

I love your posts!!

This was so interesting to read ... what sort of work do you do? I wanted to ask before as you work from home.

Thank you :)
I just do customer service so nothing tooooo exciting haha... but occasionally get to help train other people and organise fun stuff which is always nice :)
You are an antique dealer right?
πŸ’•

I enjoy training people! Yes, well, my position is complicated. Head of Sales in an antique shop, but do about 40% of the sourcing, 100% of the ordering. So as much customer relations/sales as buyer πŸ’“
