J'Adore Paris! My trip to paris using STEEMIT DOLLARS!

in #life8 years ago (edited)

Instead of spending my new found money on trivial or materialistic things, I decided to use the dollars to visit one of my favourite places in the world- Paris!

I cannot tell you how much fun we had, within our 48 hours in paris.

We began by getting the Euro-Star from St. Pancras at around 8.30am, which only takes two hours to travel to a completely different country!

When we arrived at Gare du Nord, we decided to go straight over to the Eiffel Tower like any normal tourists. A great way to get around paris is Uber, they charge a lot less than the original branded taxis do.

Its quite hard to comprehend just how amazing the tower is upclose, it has so many intricate details to it and is so so huge! IF you're looking for something particularly fancy to do if you do visit Paris, they have restaurants at the very very top of the tower. This means you can see for miles!

Although the Champ de Mars is lovely (where the Eiffel tower is), we decided to hit some shopping and I had heard there was a sephora over in Champ Elysees! This is not very far at all from the tower as you can see from the photo and we got some good 'touristy' photos along the way.

Next up was lunch! You cannot walk anywhere without there being cute little parisian restaurants and cafes absolutely everywhere. Although we opted for pizza, they were still really fresh and made with beautiful french cheeses. The perfect meal to top you up for a day of shopping.

If you've never seen the Arc de Triomphe before, it is crazy. It is basically a huge roundabout with no lanes and no sense of direction. A bus could be in the very inner lane and pull out across all of them to make an exit!! Although, this seemed the norm across the entirety of paris...

After we were all shopped out, we decided it was time to head to the hotel to check in. We stayed in the Boris V hotel and were placed in the highest floor, number 6! This photo shows just how high we were up and you could hang outside if you really wanted to.

We then freshened up (see top photo) and went down to ask the receptionist the best and most french places to eat. He suggested La Marais, which is a typically locals- only area. Despite raving about Uber earlier, when looking at taxi prices to go across the entire city, we decided to brave it and go on the Metro (underground!) which is €3.90 for 2 of you for the day- I believe.

Their metro looks practically identical to the London tubes, although buying tickets was a lot more complex than using contactless payments. I don't have any more photos of the evening, but we spent around an hour trying to find a place that did any vegetarian food whatsoever! We chose pasta, and stayed for many many celebratory drinks as it was my SO birthday in the week!

After a 'some what' heavy night of drinking, we eased ourselves back into tourist mode with a boat trip. I cannot recommend these enough as they require no walking and cost around €14, which if you translate, really is nothing. It shows you the Notre Dame, the Pont Neuf, L'Orsay and Napoleon's burial place.

It was a bit of a grumpy day, so after finishing the Trip that encompassed paris at its finest, we headed over to the Carousel de Louvre. This is an underground shopping centre that is linked on to the Louvre and features some of the most exclusive brands all in one place.

And that was the trip in photo form. We had so much fun and all of this was enabled by Steemit! It is so nice to see that when you put in hard work and enthusiasm to your work on here it can really pay off.

Let me know where your favourite places to visit in the world and how steemit may have helped you do something you may have otherwise not done, and I'll be sure to check out your blog! Happy reading :-)

Cool story :) You look like you had a blast in Paris! I hope one day to go out and see the world. Outside my far west state of Washington!

Paris is such a fun city to cruise around. I'm glad you weren't too scared to take the metro, it's really a great way to get around, my wife and I use it a lot whenever we are in Paris. Great post!

we love taking the tube in london, but we were a little scared in case we ended up in the south of france or something! but once you just do it, its fine!!
