What should we value the most in this life? Love, Money, Jobs?

in #life8 years ago (edited)

With 7.125 billion (2013) people in the world, values are bound to vary from person to person. But what should we value above all?

Today I came across this quote...

The general idea of this quote is saying that nothing else in the world matters more than love: not your job, or all the money in the world or even where you are sitting right now. "Nothing even matters- except love and human connection".

In a lot of ways I agree with this... whats the point in living the life, if you can't share, create memories and reminisce about all of the crazy and exciting moments you have both had throughout your lives. To me, feeling love from the right person can create a whole new side to yourself that you have never even felt before and can put you on Cloud Nine. So personally, being able to live a life with love, is better than anything else in the world.

Of course, having money and the opportunities to be able to achieve everything in your life is important. Some people would rather live a life of luxuries without love and some people would rather have love above all, even at the expense of having reams of money.

But my question is, through all of the acquiring money, striving to be the best in your field of expertise- whatever your values are, should we put love and human connection to a side so as to reach them?

Slightly off subject,  Is it possible to have a set of values all equally as important to you?

As I know what you're thinking reading this, why don't you just have everything- the love, the money, the job etc? I personally cannot see how you can value more than one thing the most, as something will always falter with too much emphasis on the other party. Say love and your job are your two 'main' values. If you put too much time into your work, you'll end up spending all of your time there, whereas if you spend too much time with love/family/Significant Other, your work will falter.

Life is all about choices and being able to make the best choice for you at that moment in time. Something that you value right now might not be as significant to you in a week or a month or a year, so we shouldn't close off all opportunities that call our name.

Let me know, if you have found a way too truly balance all of your life goals and values in your day to day lives, thanks for reading!
