We all have been there. You know. When you're at work and you've had a long day, you continuously keep peaking at the time, watching the clock to see if it's time for you to go home yet. It's seems like the end of your shift is so far away. But what happens when you really get engaged in your work? Before you know it, you look up and it's time to go. You say to yourself, "Wow! That day really flew bye." So, what's the feeling you get inside?
JOY!
Now don't get me wrong. Work, for some, can be a joy. For some people, there is little concern for the time when they are working, because they love what they do. But, for the purpose of this topic, we're only discussing the other scenario, the one where you're just there to get a paycheck to pay your bills. But today, I don't want to talk about the fact that you may like or dislike your job. I want to talk about your goals.
When it comes to your goals...
STOP WATCHING THE CLOCK!
Have PATIENCE!
Enjoy the JOURNEY of reaching your goals. Stop looking at all of the setbacks and negatives along the way, as they are nothing but distractions. Just stay focused. You will reach your goals soon enough. When you finally do reach your goals, you will look back and none of the hurdles you've face will matter. People spend too much time looking at how long something will take and the work it will take to get to the finish line. You just need to keep at it. Around the world artists have created some amazing works of art, but they don't start out that way. It takes the sculptor chipping away at the rock piece by piece to create a magnificent sculpture. It takes the painter so many strokes of the paintbrush to create a beautiful picture. But the artist never watches the clock. The artist only visualizes the finished piece. Treat your goals like the artist treats art. You must focus on your vision, enjoy the process and stop watching the clock.
