My would-be great Uncle, Private Josef Kucskar of the 803rd Engineers Battalion, was only 1 of 7 to survive the Bataan Death March. He later died in the Cabanatuan City p.o.w. camp of Amoebic Dysentery after going without food for 21 days.
His last words as recalled by a fellow prisoner, "Tell my Parents that I love them, and that I'm sorry I have to go like this..."
