The capital city of Port Harcourt, is a beautiful city, located in Nigeria, known for its diversity in populace and culture, it is located at the heart of Rivers State, and just as you have guessed! It is surrounded by Rivers & lagoons(salt water) and it's very close to the Atlantic ocean, having routes that lead to the ocean at each major constituent in the city.
The city of Port Harcourt was named after the secretary of state of the colony who's name was Lewis Vernon Harcourt, by the then colonial governor of Nigeria, Fredrick lugard,the city was created in the month of August,1913. Serving as a port for the carriage of goods(palm produce) from the farms to the ships of the colonial masters that was then carried off to Europe(UK) forthe processing and refining of this products
the social life of the indiges of Port Harcourt is crazy! partying being a major form of socializing,clubbing is a lifestyle here in port Harcourt, people go out to the beach on weekends and enjoy the basking heat of the mid sun on their dark and brown skins!
the food of the people of Rivers State are tasty and healthy, they eat a variety of sea foods which are high in nutritional value, having a special variety of spices, they love to prepare foods like pepper soup and yam, which is eaten with palm oil
Also they have a special delicacy known as onunu which a combination of cooked yams and ripened plantains, that are mashed together in a morter to make a smoothened paste that is allowed to harden and is eaten with pepper soup that contains fresh fish (tillapia or crooker 🐟) mixed with a variety of sea foods from periwinkles also known as isam* in this region that adds to taste and sweeting to the pepper soup, to be honest with you! Is to tell you that the taste of onunu is heavenly!
