Stop with the Excuses, Resourcefulness is the Ultimate Resource!

in #life7 years ago

When You Have Resourcefulness You Can Overcome Obstacles.

Too many times in life and here on Steemit we hear all kinds of excuses as to why someone is not successful. People love to blame things that are outside of their control instead of relying on their own selves.

Excuses on Steemit.

  1. No One Upvotes Me.
  2. The Platform is Difficult to Use.
  3. People are Flagging Me.
  4. I Don't Have the Time.
  5. I am Not a Good Writer.
  6. I Don't Have Enough Followers.
  7. Steemit Changed the Algorithm.

Every Single Excuse Given Above Can be Overcome. "Some Will, Some Won't , So What!"

When @AnaHilarski and I started our company back in 2012 we started with practically nothing. My business partnership had recently crumbled, my blogging clients closed shop and my income disappeared entirely.

What do we do? I was not willing to move back to the USA with my tail between my legs. I had something that I could build our business around. It was my recently purchased laptop. So I got to work contacting everyone I knew in the Gold and Silver business and asked them if they needed help with social media. After just a few calls my friend Peter Spina of GoldSeek said he needed us and we began immediately. Within weeks we had a handful of smaller clients that replaced most of my former income.

The key to our success was being resourceful. We dialed down our lifestyle, invested in computers, marketing tools and began building a strong social media presence. The best part was that social media was free to use but the passion was the cost. Good thing we had a ton of passion! I learned to build Wordpress websites, the basics of SEO and made connections across the world.

When I Hear People Complain Here on Steemit I Laugh.

Today @AnaHilarski and I have built a great life for ourselves but if I had a precious gift like Steemit given to me ,for free, four years ago I would be crushing it on here. People say to me, "Randy you are so active on Steemit". It is nothing compared to my activity online four years ago. I would literally write blog posts, spend hours on social media and still find time to run online ads for clients.

Today I spend most of my time managing client accounts, trading crypto and maybe 1-2 hours on Steemit. If I had Steemit four years ago I would be spending 12-14 hours a day producing 5-6 blog posts, videos , images and sharing them across social media. So many people on here have no idea how good they have it. Try writing amazing content for nothing more than some recognition from peers online and a few people who find your content in Google Search. Compared to what we have now on Steemit that had a horrible ROI.

Keep Your Chin Up and Get to Work.

If you are new to Steemit, learn the ropes. Better to be silent about the politics of the platform than to jump headfirst into the issues we are having. Here are what I feel are the keys to success on Steemit.

A. Engage with other users.
B. Produce content daily. This can be blog posts, videos or images.
C. Don't complain unless you have earned your stripes. I have told more than one complainer to quit if they don't like it.
D. Don't spam in anyway whether it is in comments, in the wallet or in Steemit Chat.
E. Be here even when the Steemit price suffers.
F. Never plagiarize.
G. Don't be a Jerk!
H. Have fun, we are changing the online world.

Don't Be Like This Guy.

I always try to follow the teachings of Anthony Robbins. This is my journey to achieve a full life.

Well done. Basic message - stop whining !!

Cat lovers are going to hate your characterization.

STEEM On!!

DaveB

p.s. Fxxx you, pay me !! LOL, from your cat video.

Tony Robbins is a truly inspiring speaker.

you are right :)

I couldn't agree more, I have recently seen a video of a guy giving all kind of "good reasons" of why Steemit was unfair...After less than a couple of months of using it...

It's insane! What do people think that Steemit is kind of a money machine? Keep looking easy money outside guys, it's gonna be a hard road

Thank you for sharing such a good article @hilarski, cheers!

Agree, you only need to work hard to be successful and get your goals, i spend 2 hours in the morning and 3 in the afternoon here while i'm working in my job

It's sad, but many people/bots are here for begging, and it brings almost no effect (at start I do that as well). But later I realized that better if u share some valiuable thoughts and build community, friends... and profits will come. It's win-win and everybody is happy :)

Ask and you shall recieve... especially questions.

I just learned from thos post. Thanx.

Nothing else to say! WHEN YOU ARE RESOURCEFUL, YOU ARE THE ULTIMATE RESOURSCE! Period.

Steemit is so good to be true! And it is True!

Excuses are for loosers lol

nice one @hilarski that a good attitude..a successful person never stop

Indeed, complaining won't get you anywhere. Massive action is going to get you going towards success.

Inspiring post. Wat is spamming pls?

spamming is when you keep sending or commenting same post as in form of advertising any link

Ok. I understand now. /thanks

wecome dear

spamming is when you keep sending or commenting same post as in form of advertising any link

absolutly right but all situations are changes with hard work if any one say no one upvote me only have some followers and etc etc but these are some things which before hardworking after this get a great success if u hardworker @hilarski sir

@hilarski Interesting post and very useful time read, someone's success is hard work hard work and tetal trying .. i like this post.

Right back at ya, I really love this platform. It engages me, keeps me creative and I have fun doing it... It is truely a gift!

Another good post @hilarski... think I'll resteem this one.

Bottom line for me-- if you have the power of positive focused intention, you can get what you want. And if you believe you'll succeed, you most likely will... and if you believe you'll fail, you most likely will. Not suggesting determination is a substitute for common sense and some wisdom... but I've certainly seen more people succeed with an "average" idea and a lot of determination than people with a "great" idea and a slacker attitude.

That has always been my approach. I know I am not the smartest person in the world but I have a ton more passion than most people.

There are many complaints sometimes also well justified. For sure Steemit is far from rewarding content by its quality, more important is how much SP you have and what communities you are part of. Dead cat photo can make hundreds and an educative and quality article just 0,1 We all know that.

Auto-bot voting, self voting, Auto-bot comments...the lack of private content, the lack of communication options like private messages, constant notification problems....... the list is long. These things don't help the Steemit platform to become more succesfull. Look at the market, other coins going up but Steem not really in last weeks or so.

This is not an complaint. I like Steemit and that s why I am here, however there are things that I dont like and will need to change in the future IMO the platform wont success otherwise.

It hurts me when people are annoyed with the Steemit blockchain and see no worth or use for them as they are not able to grow or have the skills to do well.
All I have to say this is the greatest opportunity in your life. Success doesn't come easily, you just have to buckle down and put the effort in.
If you put it in to perspective you should be glad you discovered Steemit while it is (relatively) small compared to other social media platforms and you are in a better position to emerge from nothingness and form a following than someone who is to join a couple of years done the line when Steemit has millions of users.
Use your time wisely and put the time in before it is too late

Totally agree! Good job @hilarski. I don't complain and just keep going. 👍

Excellent post dear friend @hilarski, you are very right, if you want to be someone here on the platform! IT HAS TO WORK HARD! Be very responsible and cooperative.
Thank you for sharing these tips with us.
I wish you a beautiful day.

We say: who wants to - does, who does not want - seeks excuses.

Boom, genius!

@hilarski, a couple of excuses are mine.. I am not a writer, No one upvotes me, I don't have enough followers and so on. some of them are true. For example I never wrote any thing earlier before I came here. and I have very little followers.

But then it dawned upon me slowly, well, forget it. let me just have some fun. Engaging others is also an art and not everyone's cup of tea. But I am giving my best shot at it too. Producing daily content is difficult as I am going through some real tough personal challenges, so posting contents is like on and off. hopefully that should get sorted once my personal challenges are addressed.

Thanks to your blog, I just paused a bit, reminisced about my excuses and I am all good to write some stuff now :)

Engaging here is an art like you say. I chose to focus on writing but if you can do it with commenting I applaud you.

Thank You @hilarski & @anahilarski both of you are
"Great Mentors" Thank You for giving me that push to to step my game up. I wish you all the Success!!!!
God Bless 😇

You are welcome and I hope we can keep it up!

Every time I start to write a post complaining about this or that around here, I eventually stop myself and don't post it. Attitude is everything...

There's no good excuse for not giving your best and continuing to try hard even when things aren't working out your way. I noticed, Randy, that I haven't been receiving upvotes from you anymore. Did something happen to cause me to lose your favor? I hope not.

That is some great perspective for me to hear - about the incredible amount of work it took to try to make a go in social media before Steemit. Thx for that and the tips, of course.

Dude, that cat at the end is hilarious! Love that guy! 😆

I thought he was adorable!

Thanks for the motivation. Surely they is room to do better in our business.

Thanks for your upvote. May God bless you.

Thanks for the encouragement Randy. I especially like the list you wrote:

Words of wisdom and a recipe for success (though it doesn't mean that everyone who follows it will automatically be successful).

Great! True!

Great post.

This is a great site! You must be proud of yourself :)

Yeah, communicate with people.
Not sure about posting daily, because there can be a serious lack of time.

Good poste

I agree. Let's put in the work and write, comment and write some more. We don't have time to complain.

As a newbie, starting this week, I have approached SteemIt with an open mind, and am in no rush to progress. I figured that sharing the valuable blog posts from my main blog, as well as my fine art photography would allow me to take my time in getting a feel for the platform and its people, and deveklop a sense of what kinds of content has higher value to fellow Steemians. I think that having an archive of content from outside of SteemIt is a real boon when you are starting as a newbie here, and it allows you the leeway to assimilate to the system at a comfortable pace. Good post.

damm that was so inspiring to watch i can feel the positive vibes

inspirational post :) buddy :)
