Here's a list of things to know for all the steemians fighting the summer's heat with fresh light salads.
1) Know the varieties
There are many different varieties of salads, so we should pay attention and not buy always the same type because of two simple reasons:
Different type of salads have different type of nutrients
We should look for the best one we can find at the moment we're buying and be open to change plan when we can't find a fresh one accordingly to the season and the grocery store we're in.
There are many types of salads but we could group them in three type: Lettuces, Chicories, and Endives
First one are the famous one, Romaine, Iceberg. Trocadero; They're crunchy. bright and sweet.
During the winter instead, could find the Chicories and Endives which are sourer and also useful for more elaborate use and cooking.

2) Pay attention when you buy
Salads need to be served fresh, otherwise, you'll lose all their vitamins, fibers and mineral salt.
One trick would be to avoid smaller tuft because Stores tend to eliminate the exterior leave in order to make it appear fresh.
If you buy packed salads you need to avoid the pack that seems inflated because fermentation and a bad storage are what cause it also to wash the salad before eating it because even if it may have been washed before the packing it still may be full of bacteries.
3) You should place it In the fridge immediately after buying it
It may seems obvious but salads are actually sensible to heat and you could accelerate drastically the expiring process by waiting too much before storing them in the fridge.
A good advice would be to go buying salads with a grocery bag, that could lead to drastic improvements especially when there's a lot of traffic between the grocery store and your home.
4) Different dressing and recipes can drastically change the taste
If you don't like a certain type of salad you should try it with different type of preparation before deciding to not buy it ever again.
Even just by creating a different mix or changing one element in the composition you could find yourself changing idea on its taste drastically.
Salads are based on water so they change taste even just by changing the amount of salt.
5) The less you do the better it taste
You shouldn't bury your salads with mayo or else you'll lose the taste of the salads, you should instead try to complement each ingredient thinking about mixing Fat, Sour, Salt, Spice and Seasoning.
Each element should be by itself and the dressing should be dense enough to attach to the leave but you must be able to feel the water in the salad.
Many thanks for sharing these great tips. Btw, the salad in that bowl looks so heavenly and tempting to devour 😋 😀
