This blog is short. It's kinda motivational too.
But not really, because I hate motivational stuff. This might seem weird, considering that many people put me in the motivational space, but hear me out.
I can't make you do anything you don't want to do. If you make a change or take an action and give me a credit, it's just a matter of coincidence that you read my stuff and took action. You wanted to do it all along. The only thing I can take credit for is reminding you--explicitly or implicitly--to do it.
I want this blog to serve as a reminder of a saying that I've built my life on: The difficulty of a task is irrelevant if it's vital to your success.
This idea has changed my life so much that if I was REALLY into tattoos, I'd get this inked on me. As it stands now, my tattoos are for accomplishments only. But this is important. Why?
I was gonna write about gratitude because I was in a grateful mood. Then I read something in this book I've been quoting and talking a lot about on Twitter, "I Hate Everyone But You". The line at the start of Chapter 8 reads:
"You will not be an overnight success. It will not be easy. If you aren't in the 'inheritance business', plan on working your ass off."
When I read that, I was motivated to write something short and sweet to you all.
Bust Your Ass Or Be A Nobody
You know, it doesn't seem too long ago that I was forced to rent a room at a friend's house for only $200/month, It's all I could afford and he was being generously helpful. I was living on unemployment and I had no prospects or skills for making money (except for boxing, boxing is a hard way to make an even harder living). My life is significantly different now because I realized that I needed to take a different path through life.
This isn't the blog to bore you with the details.There are tons of articles on my site for that. This is just the article to let you know that when I say the words to you, I've lived them. I want you live them too.

If you don't like where you are in life, you likely know what to do to change that. At the very least, you know what you need to stop doing.
When people write to me about getting their drinking or other bad habits under control, I always ask "Well do you want to stop?" It's one thing to need to quit--everyone needs to quit eating so much damn sugar. It's another thing to WANT to.
I can help with "want". I can't do shit with "need". If that seems counter-intuitive, remember: the only thing REALLY necessary for change is the desire to do so. Without that, the most thoughtful invention will be received with scorn and all help will be treated as attack.
If something is difficult but it needs to be done to change your life, help will appear. Trust me on this. I've seen it and experienced it too many times. I'm not one of those dudes into astrology or numerology or any of the pseudo-scientific disciplines, but I swear the universe will rally around you when you need help IF you are trying to help yourself.
Maybe it's unscientific, but I don't care. It's anecdotally true for me and it's guided (and continues to guide) my life. So I'll leave you with this so you don't forget.
