Words are precious and as such, need to be guided jealously. This fact about “your words defines who you are” by many has been taken with a pinch of salt and as a result, less regard is been given to what it can really achieve.
Although to some, like the proverbial saying ‘easier said than done” has become a norm that they hardly could do without making or saying what they cannot fulfill. But the truth be told, if only we could do or put to action 70% of the positive things and words we say, I believe we won’t be at the level we are currently.
The story was once told about some rats and a cat. We all know that, cat and rat on a very good day are not best of friends… it happens that the rats were taking over the residence of a particular man, that he could no longer keep any food items or books safe from the rampaging and destructive act of the rats. So, one day, the man decided to get a cat into the house to help chase the rats away.
Truly, upon sighting of the cat, the rats took to their heels… hiding for the sake of their lives. While in such exile, the rats held a meeting and came up with a resolution. It was suggested that they make a bell and place it round the neck of the cat, so that whenever the cat is moving, they could ascertain the location of the cat and avoid it. It was a brilliant idea indeed… then one of the rats asked, who will go and place the bell on the cat’s neck; no one of the rats could and was willing to take on the assignment. It was indeed easier said, but the action was too far from becoming since the rats couldn’t agree on who will go on the mission; so the rats remained in hiding while the cat was around.
This story no doubt portray the lifestyle of many of us, who could and often come up with great ideas, saying it out is never a problem or challenge but acting upon the talked idea is a great challenge.
If only today, we could make a U-turn and decide to work our talk, despite the challenges, many things around us will no doubt change for good.
Therefore, get up, stand tall and work your talk.
