There is a story about Mother Theresa who was being interviewed by a reporter who marveled at her compassion and those who she served. Many of the questions were what you would expect from someone doing a story. At one point, he asked how she could work with those with Leprosy.
Working with these people is very difficult because It is a physically and graphically horrific disease. It hard to do for even some of the most compassionate people. She surprised the reporter by saying that she did not see the disease. Instead she saw the being behind the disease. She saw the scared person and not merely the form. When asked how she could do this she simply stated that saw them all as God, in all His most distressing disguises.
How do you see the people around you? What labels do you attach to them? What box do they fit in? Are you willing to see the divine nature that is inherent in all beings?
Read "The missionary position" by Christopher Hitchens, not very flattering!!!
